đș Men in the Second Age of Middle-earth: Rise, Ruin, and Remembrance
"Among the Children of IlĂșvatar, some walked in light, some in shadow â but all were Men."
đ The Blessed of NĂșmenor
In the deep twilight after Morgoth's fall, the Edain â the Men who stood with Elves in the First Age â were rewarded by the Valar.
They were gifted the island of NĂșmenor, and with it: long life, wisdom, and peace.
The NĂșmenĂłreans flourished, building a realm of unmatched power and beauty.
At first, they were a force for good â healers, teachers, protectors.
But the higher they rose, the greater the fallâŠ
A hunger for immortality poisoned their hearts.
They forgot their allies.
They turned their backs on the Valar.
âïž The Kingâs Men â proud, imperial, followers of Sauron.
đż The Faithful (Elendili) â loyal to the Elves and the old ways.
đ„ Men Who Worshipped Shadow
Beyond the island, scattered across Middle-earth, lived others:
Nomadic tribes, clans, forgotten peoples of the East and South â
Easterlings, Southrons, Hillmen, forest-folk, and more.
They knew no Valar. No Elves. No ancient songs.
And so, when Sauron came â beautiful, clever, deceiving â
they listened. He offered them power. Weapons. Dominion.
And Men became his servants.
His soldiers.
His... Ringwraiths.
When NĂșmenor drowned beneath the waves, not all was lost.
Elendil and his sons sailed east, with the Faithful.
Arnor â in the foggy North.
Gondor â in the sunlit South.
These exiled kings and their descendants became known as the DĂșnedain â
long-lived, noble, and wise.
As the Age neared its end, darkness rose again.
Elves and Men united under a single banner: The Last Alliance.
On the fields of Dagorlad, they faced the Dark Lord.
Elendil fell, but his son Isildur struck the final blow,
severing the Ring from Sauron's hand.
A victory â but not the end. Only a pause.
đ Echoes of the Second Age
Some served Light â others Shadow.
Some sought wisdom â others, power.
Yet the memory endures.
In ruins, in songs, in the blood of Aragorn, last of the DĂșnedain.
"Light and shadow lived in the hearts of Men in the Second Age.
Not saints, not monsters â but children of Arda, caught in the turning of the world."
