I can name a handful of channels and I know it’s not even scratching the surface. Smosh having live streams behind a paywall. The Try Guys and their streaming service. Dan and Phil making their Patreon. I mean hell I’ll throw Dropout in here too.

The ones listed above are established channels who have spent YEARS IF NOT DECADES on YouTube. They aren’t making paid content just for shits and giggles. They have to in order to stay afloat. Production cost are not cheap. We also have to remember they need somewhat of a profit. They are HUMANS like you and I. They aren’t mega corporations robbing us. I hate capitalism as much as the next guy but this isn’t the time to complain about your favorite content creator having shit behind a paywall. They are doing it out of necessity because the platform that once provided is no longer providing in the way that it did.

i am still so fascinated by the velvety flow (so fitting for the melancholy content) of the contrapuntal poem by @whovianofmidgard which is a true poem to me (while mine is just trying to be one ;)
