anyways I'm officially calling this the second run au, and the idea goes as follows:
- yangchen is tied to the physical world by kyoshi's need of her (we know that avatars can call upon their past lives when the need arises, and that sometimes they can even interact with the world around them. this is just taking it to the next level, so to say)
- this basically means that she's only there while kyoshi is awake, and while kyoshi's subconscious wants her there. it just so happens that kyoshi is a child at first and so her need for someone is constant
- kyoshi calls her 'mom' and avatar "i lie as i breathe" yeangchen decides that the most humane way of approaching this scenario is not telling the truth. because surely this is only temporary. surely the earth sages will find kyoshi, and then she can go back to the spirit world, job well done, able to rest until kyoshi is grown and she can explain this whole mess
- and the earth sages do find her! well, jianzhu (& kelsang) does. which, yangchen is less than happy with
- basically she nopes the fuck out of there with kyoshi, partly because those two already failed kuruk, and partly because it has been months since this whole jesa ruse started and she is more emotionally involved than she would like to be
- keep in mind, yangchen's thought process throughout all this boils down to: i will not fail this child like i did kuruk. i will not let anyone else fail my daughter kyoshi. fuck the laws of nature.
- of course, having a super powerful spirit whose only goal is not to fail this child whose fate is to live every day in danger and conflict, in an era known for its brutality, is not bound to go well. add to this the fact that people's treatment of yangchen will be so different from how they treated her while alive, especially with kyoshi in the picture, she is... not pleased
- we all know what happens to spirits displeased by humans.
