Should I add a second monitor to my desk setup? I would like a second screen but if I do that, it will block my view to the TV which I like to have something playing in the background while I compute every once in a while. Hm... decisions

God I wish I had another monitor. I'm indulging in my greatest pleasure at work (having a second monitor)
How to use your iPad as a second monitor on any computer https://t.co/YfA2rUWYfC pic.twitter.com/aXe6npuqK0

The cheap, cross-platform option: Splashtop Wired XDisplay
If your Mac or iPad isn't supported by Sidecar—or you're a Windows and Android user—Splashtop Wired XDisplay is a third-party app that can turn your tablet into a second monitor. It only works when connected over USB, and isn't the smoothest option I've used, but it'll do the job adequately for not a lot of money.
Splashtop Wired XDisplay has two components: a desktop agent that runs in the background on your PC or Mac, and an iPad app or Android app that runs on your tablet. (The iPad app appears to be completely free, while the Android app is $7—though there's a free trial version that works for 10 minutes at a time.)
After installing both the desktop and tablet apps, ensure the desktop app is running on your computer, connect your tablet to your computer with a USB cable, then launch the XDisplay app on your tablet. It will establish a connection to your computer, and a blank desktop will appear on your tablet. You rearrange your monitors from your computer's Display settings, drag windows to your tablet, and otherwise use it as a second monitor for a productivity boost.
Word of advice, if you want a second monitor, which is great for pretty much everything, don't buy a new one, get one from the thrift store. They are very cheap compared to the alternative, and a monitor with all necessary cables shouldn't cost more than 30$ CAD.
Depending on what type of computer you have, finding the right cable could be tricky ( if you have a Mac, you're likely going to need and adapter) and the monitor odviously won't be great in image quality, but the simple fact that it is more screen space is incredibly valuable.

If you are spending more time with your PC and you have to do more than one task at the same time, then you can't work easily on one screen. That time you need a bigger screen or another screen. If you also have a laptop then check given the article, and use your laptop as second monitor.
I’m gonna cry. $2000 on a new computer, custom-built,  and I can’t hook up a second fucking monitor. $2000 on a giant brick now, because what’s the point of a fucking desktop if I can’t have a second fucking monitor? Tell me. WHAT”S THE FUCKING POINT? AGH!
This laptop isn’t supposed to be a brick yet either, but here I am, stuck watching videos on a computer that can’t play a whole fucking video before it freezes all for want of a way to get my new $2000 brick TO FUCKING RECOGNIZE A SECOND MONITOR!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting a second monitor tomorrow! Very excited about it. This is gonna be great for having references, videos, etc on one screen and be able to draw and record on the other one! I plan to make more speed painting videos and finally start working on a comic I’ve had in mind. Excited!Â
