"I… well…" He scratched the side of his head, fingers trailing up and raking through his hair before settling at the back of his neck, giving it a few firm squeezes like that would help ground him. His hand eventually dropped back to his side with a sigh. "Just, uh… you don’t seem interested in anyone?" The words left in a mumble, half unsure if he was making an observation or asking a question. His tongue flicked over his upper lip—a quick, nervous swipe—as if that would somehow erase the tension hanging between them. "Not tryna pry or anything, really. Just curious…!" His voice lifted too fast, too defensively, and he winced at himself. "I mean—I’m not dating anyone either, if that makes it… less weird? Been too busy, schedules all over the damn place… y’know how it is."
He trailed off then, barely able to look Eito in the eye. What was he even doing? Tiptoeing around a question he didn’t have the guts to ask properly. All he knew was that they spent a lot of time together—touring, rehearsals, late-night drives—and somewhere along the line, this question started to matter a little more than it should’ve. The idea of Eito being with someone else suddenly felt like a punch straight to the chest. "You, um.. sorry.. for assuming."
