Let the race to be the next ‘Game of Thrones’ begin as spinoff ‘House of the Dragon’ battles ‘Halo’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ while reboots, R
Scripted TV is heading into edgy mainstream territory. Indie commercial. Conservative radical. As with every industry of the day, DISRUPTION is the current industry paradigm. With a mature TV marke...
Somehow, my mind went blank when trying to think of favourite moments from this past week's TV. In a huge oversight, I left off THE OFFICE and that fantastic proposal.
My analytical side wants to explain how perfectly Michael this was. I appreciated Pam's support and guidance, and it was so telling of their relationship over the last 7 years. Holly's reaction was gold, and Amy Ryan has been nothing short of amazing for making us all believe that Michael could really successfully date someone.
I also think they did a great job giving Michael an excuse to leave. Although I wish we had gotten more of an indication that Holly's parents needed her (one call? and her mom is just fine?), I bet it really does seem logical for Michael to follow Holly to the end of the world and back.Â
But! Better than me swooning, just watch the video.
Week in Review
REALITY TV:
Best (part 1) = Top Chef met the Muppets. That was the cutest thing ever. Richard Blais just melted for them. And poor Padma and the contestants were heckled by Muppets. It was too much. Loved it.
Best (part 2) = SURVIVOR! Things I loved: seeing Rob again, Rob winning over the majority as per usual, Phillip getting Francesca's name wrong, Kristina finding the Idol, Ralph's man sweater, Jeff's jaw dropping, and pretty much every other second of it. Oh, and Jeff's totally kickass helicopter introduction. (For more of my opinions on Survivor and weekly recaps, see http://www.realitytv-blog.com.)

Worst = How dare Brad send Crazypants Michelle home on the Bachelor? We need her! The other girls are too normal and datable!
SCRIPTED TV:
Best = The running joke on Better With You about how Casey always has a great excuse for showing up late. Their writers have done a commendable job of creating well-developed characters that are likeable, and the show is really growing on me.
Worst = On Hellcats, our heroines threw a party "sponatenously." Don't get me wrong - I am all for toga parties, and I loved that Lewis sang "Shout!" but it barely made sense. They had a HUGE budget and some random girl showed up to sing some other song in the middle of "Shout!" and it was just bizarre. And then some firefighters joined them?

Week in Review: SCRIPTED TV
Best thing I saw all week:
Drunk Jim and Drunk Pam on The Office. They are too secondary this season (although I completely adore every second of Holly and Michael finding true love), so it was great to see them back and interacting in this episode.
Honorable mention = Troy and Abed's bromance on Community. There is no better.

Worst thing I saw all week:
Glee's post Super Bowl episode. It was just let-down city. In comparison, their Valentine's Day episode on Tuesday was actually really excellent for the uneven series (best summarized by Memles).

Week in Review: SCRIPTED TV
The best thing I saw this week:
Modern Family. Admittedly, it's the best thing I see most weeks. But this episode was really great. I loved Phil trying to crack jokes about having his kids walk in on him and Claire, and I loved Cam and Mitchell trying to edge their way into guest star Rachael Harris's local restaurant.
The worst thing I saw this week:
On Rules of Engagement, a show I'm already slowly breaking up with, CRIS ANGEL (MINDFREAK) was the guest star. He stole David Spade's girlfriend and was a little creepy the whole time. I love magic, but I do not love Cris Angel. Also, there was not enough David Warburton.
The most mediocre thing I saw this week:
NBC's latest romantic comedy sitcom, Perfect Couples. I like most of the cast in their previous work, but so far, the show is pretty flat. My favourite part is Christine Woods (FlashForward), but not much happens and it's not laugh-out-loud funny just yet. Here's hoping they find a way to improve.
