Nothing can adequately prepare you to how swift and sudden the change in the air is as you cross the border of the North Shroud and set forth on the road to the Central Highlands – something I later found out was the result of aetheric imbalance left in the wake of the Seventh Umbral Calamity, which turned the already-harsh winters harsher and stole summer away from the region for what appears to be the foreseeable future. I've been through a lot in this frozen land since I left my first footprint in the snow – both bitter cold and unbelievable warmth, a tapestry of ice and fire to which I owe a great deal of who I am today.
