Y'know what keeps me up at night?/hyperbole. The fact that when I was a kid with an S-shaped spine I had an orthopedic specialist. One of the top in the field for the region I think. I went through like 2-3 years of uncomfortable ass back braces before receiving a surgery to put magnetic rods in my back. I would have these rods for four-ish years, have to drive an hour every 3 months to have them adjusted, be borderline crying in pain at school because whenever my body grew they needed to move, then got my spinal fusion in 2020. (Before the world collapsed luckily). This ortho was there for my biggest surgery.
And then he just disappeared.
My surgery went great but after some post op follow ups I never saw that man again. It was just "your x-rays look great". Last time I went to him for back pain he told me to just exercise and when I told him the physical therapy that my insurance cut off had been helping he said "well you don't wanna waste your parents money." After telling my pcp I hadn't seen the man in like two years she suggested I go back only for me to find out he left the hospital I used. What the fuck man.
Like afaik spinal fusion is the end all be all for scoliosis treatment but you should still stay in touch with your specialists. I'm hoping it gets better once I find an adult ortho
