I think I found a lost Beethoven movie??? It's called "the music of love: beethoven's secret love" and it's part three of a three part series about composers love lives (the others being the Schumanns and Debussy). I stumbled across it while researching Minona. The movie is about Josephine von Brunswick and Beethoven and maybe Minona is involved??? I'm not sure 😭 It has an IMDb page but I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ABOUT THIS MOVIE other than the summary and two movie stills plus the poster. Usually Beethoven movies are really easy to find but I looked in English, French, German, and Russian BUT NOTHING. Did this movie even happen? Am I being lied to? I NEED TO SEE IT! it has that late 90's, immortal beloved type of vibe and it delves deep into his relationship with Josephine. Their love is my favorite side story to Beethoven's life, THEY WERE LITERALLY DOOMED SOULMATES I CANT 💔 THIS MOVIE WAS MADE FOR ME. (Also if you want, I can give you some recommendations for Josephine and Beethoven's relationship hehe)
HAYYY thabk u sm for being here first and foremost i think u were very much needed cus i wanna confess sumthing once and for all. THIS will be long ; sorry if its hard to read or im not good at expressin i say this at each reply but keep in mind :(
first, ok, i never heard of that trilogy either.?? id be the most interested to see it about beethoven and the schumanns. idk if i made it clear, but i love the schumanns a LOT!!! debussy can rot, anyone who doesnt like beethoven is no interest to me Yes i work like this😒
have u tried to check on fmhy? it usually has lots of platforms Thats where i usually try to find my movies. well, for some reason I still couldnt find Chopin!Chopin!! 😒😒 id try now and send it to you, but im at the countryside with dad this weekend and internet is sketchy. I've wrote this in notes and will probably post this when I get internet again.
now the confession.
it's been almost a year of beethoven obsession, and i'm not sure if it's my parasocial ass, but i never had found the romantic part in beethoven and josephine's story? it sounds like any beethoven scholar would have my head 😭😭 i wanna get into it to and enjoy it , bcs theres sadly any bits of ludwigs life to see like hapiness. maybe there is some info im missing.. so thats why id be glad if you could help me.
so as far as i know, beethoven becomes a teacher for both josephine and therese around 1799. like yeah yada yada he falls in love with basically any girl he meets and he loves josephine. and we have constant proof and letters of his love to her, especially considering the ones that had been found in the middle of the 20th century. and its typically beethoven romantic stuff and theyre touching and they are so peak . i am also a firm believes that Josephine was his immortal beloved.
its also said josephine to reciprocate. what i dont get is, why we dont have any acces to this? it's told that we have a few letters and bits of her diary entries,, yet i can't find one expressed directly from her??. it's always scholars who just summarize and it falls flat to me this way . we do know that Therese expressed in her journal that they were soulmates , that josephine was the IB, but at the same time she said "its dangeorus for her sister to be with him" . which is it? like im sorry im a hater but i feel like she supported this relationship only after , when it felt cool to say your sister was with beethoven🧐
so josephine marries someone else.now we know beethoven believes in marriage and steps back. this marriage is with Deym who makes sculptures (didnt he make mozarts death face mask) (always mad that got broke) and she has MULTIPLE kidds. like many.
and he dies (+with debts) so shes a widow and we know that they reconnect and this becomes their most "active" recalls of love (1804-1807) but.. oh god am i... having a purity believer .. but why is beethoven the loser here too😞like he begs to be with a woman who didnt even have the courage at FIRST to be with him. .. she was young and for some reason, i dont believe she loved him at first. is there proof she reciprocated before her first marriage? i seriously tried to look it up and had not found shi.
but after .. the active years where their most "romantic" years take part.. i feel like its.. josephine taking the last option now. she lost her husband and got with the guy who seemed still obsessed with her and what? does she go against expectations and chooses ludwig here either? NO🤣 she literally leaves again
"but she didnt wanna lose custody of her kids"
then that already settles her not to be his soulmate in my head unfortunately. btw, wasnt deym an actually cool guy and josephine was really happy with her husband. like again, maybe its Just ME but she had 4 kids out of genuine love. she was busy🤷🏻♀️
i dont think she was even thinking of Ludwig during her first marriage. is this harsh lol
[side note. in this period, Beethoven falls in love with Giulietta. her cousin BTW]
she was a widow JUST because her husband died... so yes, she would have lost custody of kids if she got with ludwig, but those kids were her priority as a mom. she is fully responsible for them and i believe in fate. it was just fate keepin her from being with beethoven cus i can't comprehend the idea she loved him?? i feel like im losin the romantic side
i wanna put this in paralel with Schumanns, now that they had been mentioned! look at Clara Wieck.. She was a daddy's girl who was tourin as a child prodigy and had even a prince interested her . but she loved robert☹️☹️ he was the love of her life and she went against ANYTHING, her own father and her status, to be with the man she loved. and guess what? they got togheter and had kids and been happy, despite Robert's mental health issues. :( theyre the great love story i always think of. she loved him and put up all her swords , even against her father.
josephine? she was just a young countess, who was a victim of beethoven falling in love with her (cus again, he prob fell in love too easily imo) and do we have proof she loved in that first period? that i cant know, and again, i dont say she owes him anything. cus i dont think she did. shes young omg she had other stuff to deal with. she gets with a husband, and although arranged, she did love that guy and gets kids cus they are actually in love with one another. and when she breaks up, she got her kids. did she love Beethoven in the second period? yes , allegedly, but meeh... even then.. she doesnt believe in ride or die😭😭 her fate was sealed to not be with him. to me, when you love somebody.. you cant even look at another and will do anything against what the "fate wants for you" and YOU go to be with your lover. maybe im too idealistic.. 😞
minona has always amazed me and this whole theory. i think she resembles him and i think her name is ... an interesting choice. but .. i feel its sad to consider it too. how could josephine deal with herself NOT tell beethoven this, considering we know how much he valued family and having a kid? "her reputation" see? like anything is about her losing stuff and shes like afraid and doesnt do anything. beethoven lost his hearing, literally, and didnt stop composing despite all odds. one of the most important traits of him. he goes against everything that stands in his way. i cant see him with a woman who could do this.
so anon, considering you say youre a specialist of this, i am INSANELY OPEN to have this changed cus i do wanna see it romantic too, i just fail to see it or im losin a chunk of info. ? i dont even know. i think its just sad and pitiful, and yes .. doomed... again, would love all this to be change pls let me believe something else😭😭😭
