sweden is so weird
when you transition from högstadiet(middle school i think??) to gymnasiet(basically high school ig) you take part of a process called nollning, which means "zeroing" because you are transitioning from 9th grade in högstadiet to 1st grade in gymnasiet. they change the grade because gymnasiet is not mandatory
so, officially, you are a "nolla"(zero) and you have to complete certain tasks to become an "etta"(one). these tasks are often humiliating and messy and unnecessary cruel at times. you get covered in ketchup and fish oil and other things you dont even wanna know what they are. if you complain, you'll probably get egged. some challenges are harmless and fun(dying you hair pink), and some are downright nasty and fucking mean(i dont wanna give examples its too gross yall)
so, why would anyone participate in this? idk tradition and peer pressure i guess. i wouldn't know because i had my first nollning today and i quit after the first fucking challenge.
in my defence, my school in unnecessarily cruel and brutal. the first challenge was to lay down flat in a row for ten minutes and don't move. sounds easy, right? wrong. the leaders have bottles of condiments like ketchup, mustard, fish custard, boston cucumber, hot sauce, whipped cream, caramel sauce, mayonnaise and soy sauce that they are emptying onto you the entire time. they also egg you. if you're lucky, the egg breaks. if you're me, the egg doesn't break and proceeds to hit you square in the guts. then, after the abuse, everyone has to roll over each other, in turn elbowing them in the nuts(keep in mind we were still covered in shit).
so yeah me and my friend panicked and had to leave along with another girl who got hot sauce directly in her eyes. now im gonna shower for 4 days straight because ive never smelled so bad before and im so fucking grossed out
Ravenclaw Headcanon
Every time the house elves clean the Ravenclaw common room, they make sure to leave the proof of the residents there, while still making sure it’s safe to walk across, but every scuff mark is there. Pieces of carpet are torn up from students moving furniture to get better light from the fireplace on their homework, or from shifting the chair slightly to get it in the “right” position. From students absent-mindedly tapping, pulling, and scratching at the carpet. The burns from when students got too close to the fire (and the occasional exploding snap) and panicked for a moment before the fire was put out. And there’s a corner of the carpet completely pulled out and haphazardly shoved back into place where the students pull it up at the end of every year so that each seventh year leaving hogwarts can sign their name on the floorboards.
So today I went to my brother’s Wanhojen tanssit (something like ‘oldies dance’)! I know I don’t usually post this sorta stuff but here it is anyways! 😁 Almost 1000 dancers from different high schools in my town.
The dance is kinda like a choreographed ball for the people on the second year of high school. It celebrates them becoming the oldest ones in school when the seniors graduate. It’s actually pretty formal but there is one crazier dance (this is the dance on the video) for the end. 😄 Almost everyone in Finland do this! Don’t know about other countries.. but it’s fun! This made me nostalgic, I danced two years ago. 😅
he’s not even all that good. He doesn’t deserve it. He’s an awful person

Honest question because I seriously wonder if this is another thing unique to my school. Today, my school did something called Hush Day where the girls are given red paper hearts to pin to their clothes and if they talk to a boy outside of class, they lose their heart and the game. Between classes and at lunch is fair game. The same thing is done to guys at St. Patrick’s Day only with green shamrocks. Does anyone else’s school do this? I am very curious.
My school has a tradition where every basketball homecoming rally, the varsity basketball guys dress up in revealing red dresses and reenact the Christmas song scene from mean girls.
