The tender perennial Pelargonium 'Apple Blossom Rosebud' (geranium) is a zonal Pelargonium with bicoloured, white and pink double flowers. This cultivar first appeared around 1850 and was used for buttonholes and posies. These plants were in the glasshouse of Scampston Walled Garden, Yorkshire.

In the glasshouse of Scampston Walled Garden, Yorkshire, the tender perennial Pelargonium 'Frank Headley' (geranium) was providing a display of flowers contrasting with the small, cream-variegated leaves.

In the walk around the perimeter of Scampston contemporary Walled Garden, Yorkshire, by the Dutch plantsman, Piet Oudolf, was a great walk of unusual plant species created and cared for by Paul Smith, Head Gardener. This included Syneilesis aconitifolia (shredded umbrella plant) a rhizomatous, deciduous perennial with erect stems of small, pale lilac flowers which looked great with the purple foliage of Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' (redbud).

Discovered in China by Ernest Wilson, in 1908, Euonymus cornutus var. quinquecornutus (spindle) is a deciduous shrub with narrow leaves and with amazing fruit each of which has five slender horn-like extensions and open to reveal bright orange seeds.
