The orcas get very close to the boat and start to pop out of the water to take a peek at their would-be meal, who's in no rush to get back into the water, despite this woman repeatedly telling the sea lion, “you have to go”. As caretakers of this planet, we can choose to save it. Our oceans are our life source, not money, not social media and not oil. The Bahamian government is allowing oil exploration in our waters. The Bahamas is a community of fishermen, hoteliers and families who either directly or indirectly depend on the health of our ocean for their livelihood. Drilling for oil jeopardises the lives of Bahamians and visitors alike. The ‘reward’ of what money it will bring is not worth the risk of the irreparable damage an inevitable oil spill will cause. When an accident happens, our reefs will be smothered and blackened, our fisheries will be toxic and distrusted by global markets and our people will be left to clean up the aftermath in perpetuity. As caretakers of our oceans, as citizens of one of the last abundant reefs on earth, as a people of the sea, we cannot allow this

This girl had quite a few passengers on her belly - the same remoras that once gave me a mermaid haircut in an previous post 😂 If you take a closer look you can see her tail missing and a chunk of wing, probably from a shark attack. ⁣ ⁣ In South Africa we are the only crew in the country permitted to freedive and film. The country still has one of the most strict lockdowns in the world and we are documenting its impact on coastal communities. No boats are launching where it is usually teeming with scuba divers, which is probably why I’ve met so many friendly sea creatures! ⁣ @isimangaliso Sodwana Bay in South Africa is really my favorite place in the world to dive because of the variety of life! This past Sunday I did a beach clean up, that I set up, to show our universal mother some love on Mother’s Day cause she needs some love too especially with all she’s done for us and what we’ve done to her. We filled four bags with large pieces of trash, small pieces of styrofoam, and of course straws along with many more materials. It broke all of our hearts and made me want to start a movement. Each weekend I will be setting up a beach clean up on Saturday’s at 10 a.m. with the location varying between the most polluted beaches in Southern California to try and make an impact. My goal is to grow the group bigger each weekend and also inspire others. If interested in getting involved please message me. Together we can make a difference and save the earth 🤙🏼🌎
