Today I went to see President Obama give a speech at my university. Whilst waiting in the longest line known to man, my friends and I were bombarded by anti-Obama and pro-Republican protestors or whatever. Many of them were holding signs with pictures of hacked up aborted fetuses, which was lovely. Some were shouting things about women not deserving rights and shit. I just yelled, "I love women!" That shut them up for a little bit.
Later when President Obama started talking about what he has done with Don't Ask, Don't Tell and the other things like DOMA and equality and the human rights campaign, I started tearing up really bad. I don't understand how anyone could look at these issues and deem them unimportant or that women don't deserve freedoms, and queers don't deserve the right to marry, or that people should get fired from their jobs or discharged from the military for being gay. I am so glad we have a president right now who understands and actually gives a shit about the American people, not just money.
On a lighter note, Obama is hilarious. He called Romney out for saying he wanted to shut down PBS in the debates last week.
"I didn't realize Big Bird was driving our deficit! Elmo is running for the border! Oscar is hiding in the trash can! [Yes, Governor Romney, the answer to America's economic crisis is destroying Sesame Street.]"
The last bit is in brackets because I don't remember what he said word for word, but the first bit I remember because it was fantastic.
Anywho, that was my rant of political jargon for the night! Back to reblogging Lzzy Hale...
