Mexican tortas are tasty sandwiches that are usually served on a bolillo or telera roll and have layers of meat, cheese, vegetables, and sauces. Mexico loves these tasty treats that you can buy on the street. They have strong flavors and satisfying textures.
Ingredients: 1 bolillo or telera roll. 1/4 cup refried beans. 2 slices cooked ham. 2 slices cooked turkey. 2 slices Oaxaca cheese. 1/4 avocado, sliced. 1/4 cup pickled jalapenos. 1/4 cup shredded lettuce. 2 slices tomato. 1/4 cup mayonnaise. 1 tablespoon mustard. 1 tablespoon hot sauce.
Instructions: Cut the bolillo or telera roll in half across the middle. Put refried beans on the bottom half of the roll. Put shredded lettuce, tomato slices, pickled jalapenos, ham, turkey, Oaxaca cheese, avocado, and ham on top of the beans. On the top half of the roll, put mayonnaise, mustard, and hot sauce. Put the two halves together to make a sandwich. You can toast the sandwich in a panini press or grill if you want it to be warm and crispy.
