Dear local library, I hate how you advertise going 'more digital' as a huge improvement for your dear customers, when all it does is inconvenience quite a number of people who don't want or even can't pay electronically!
So, my local library re-opend after some renovations again and I was there for the first time today, being surprised to see so many people (mainly kids) at the counter, looking quite dejected.
Turns out the library has gone "electronic payment only", so quite a number of kids who wanted to return games and other stuff you can only loan for a small fee stood there with their coins and were denied returning their goods. They were told to come back with a parent who could pay for them electronically. WTF?!
I mean, the opening hours are not exactly great for people who work full-time to begin with. Also, if parents approved their kids' own children library cards, shouldn't these kids have the opportunity to handle their own loans (that don't require parents' permissions) That's a huge part of the fun and learning experience, no? Not to mention that kids might get away with loaning a game their parents would not approve of per se, you know?
Anyway, I offered to pay all these kids' fees with my card, so I spent ages in line of that REALLY FUCKING SLOW machine they have set up for "digital payment" now. What an improvement indeed that returning a simple cardboard game now requires so many steps:
1) Check your item(s) in at the counter 2) Have your library card scanned SLOWLY 3) Wait for the librarian to book the fee(s) on the library card 4) Get in line at the payment terminal 5) Wait for the library card to get scanned again FOREVER, and... 6) Pay the fee (if your card gets accepted) 7) Answer questions about how you would like your receipt 8) Decline the paper option and choose email instead... 9) Just for the machine to decide, No, you'll get at least ONE piece of paper anyway, if you want it or not, please wait for it... 10) Wait for it... 11) OPTIONAL: Despair at the receipt printer jamming (much to the kids' entertainment) 12) Tell the kids to keep their pocket money and get home before they catch spider webs, waiting with you! Seriously? I did this four times for four kids and it took AGES every single time! Yeah, what an improvement indeed! 😠😠😠
“Wha–.... Why.. Why did you kill them?!”
“Don’t worry,” the other said, “It’s nothing personal.”
“.. Nothing personal? Nothing personal?! I could probably understand why you would kill them if it were personal!”
“Oh, come on!” the assassin complained, “How am I supposed to survive and pay bills then?”
After doing the research I have figured something out.
Recently I tested my reading speed, and figured out I can read about 11,500 words in 28 minutes and fifteen seconds.
That is 11,500 words, in 1,650 seconds.
That means I can read the entire Homestuck story (800,000 words) in 1,965.2173913 minutes. Or, 32.75 hours with no breaks reading at a pace I can keep up with constantly.
I could read the entire Homestuck Story in less than a day and a half if I had enough freetime and didn't have to deal with bodily needs.
Real question here, is Should I read homestuck and see how long it takes me? For those who have read it, is it good enough to read all the way through in probably 2 or 3 days considering I need breaks?
Glad to see everything go from “Oh my god Nezriel brotp” to vast explanations and discussion on how Nesta and Eris could be endgame.

I have decided to specialize in exclusive fiction. It excludes everyone. No characters. No representative of anyone. If you see a resemblance to anyone in it? Nope. You’re interpreting it wrong. Diverse casts of characters that portray many different view points are out. Having absolutely no view points because there’s no narrator, plot, setting, theme, action, or dialogue in your work is in.
Oh cool, we’re going to get a resurrection ritual tonight!
