Desired Character:

Violetta Zhang

Violetta [ french, meaning little violet ]. Like the flower, she is full of colour. Many people are surprised by her optimism and brightness, because she usually dons a serious expression when she's on a mission, but when she's not, she busies herself by spending time with those around her. The first word used to define the name is little, and she is just that. She is the youngest of 5 siblings ("Can you believe it?" She asks someone when her family is spoken about), and to them, she is the baby, even if she had grown up tall and strong, she is always the smallest of the Zhangs -- until there are none of them left but her.

Zhang [ chinese, meaning drawing a bow, archer, bowyer ]. She has this particular skill because of her surname. She knows how to fire a bow and arrow, and she's pretty good at it. She has picked it up initially thinking it would be funny, but she later learns that it is a good skill to have, not to mention it is one passed onto her by her parents, who have done archery in their spare time. Now, it is a skill she is known for, as it is the number one thing she's a master at.

Violetta quite likes her name. She thinks it's a bit young for her, however, but she likes it nonetheless. She has obtained plenty of nicknames from family members, friends, and acquaintances alike. She's mostly called Vi, sometimes Lettie or Letta, though the latter two are rather rare.

Her parents didn't give her a middle name, because they never liked the idea of having more than two names, which Violetta had always been thankful for. She didn't like the idea of having another name either.

Why did you choose this character?

I want to say Violetta is my child, but that would just be untrue. I guess she'd be my mother? Anyway, the reason I chose to write for Violetta is because she's Winona's opposite. Winona is a young girl who has gotten her heart broken, and all she has left is her facade of a "good" attitude, snarky comments made on the side and heavy eye make up. Whereas Violetta is older, and theoretically, wiser. She makes a few sarcastic remarks, but other than that, she has nothing but brightness. She likes to think there's hope for everything, even if sometimes the light goes out. She is like a flower, growing toward the light and rising again when she is stepped on. I also love the many possible connections for her, since Violetta is overprotective of everyone in the system -- especially those in her group. She's the surrogate mother, the cool older sister, or just the average shoulder to lean on, and she plays that role perfectly.

Headcanons:

Violetta likes the middles of the seasons. There isn't an actual season she likes, instead, she likes them by months. Her favourite is May, because of the whole, "April showers bring May flowers." She likes the idea of May's freshness, and that it's between her two favourite seasons: spring and summer. She's a summer child, but she also likes the winter as well.

She has really bad sleeping habits. She can only sleep for a certain number of hours, but once she wakes up, she can't go back to sleep until the next night. She hates this fact about herself, but she finds that this makes night missions a little easier for her, since unlike many people, she actually feels more motivated to get things done while she is sleepy, though that doesn't always mean she gets anything done.

She likes to listen to music before a mission, while she's flying to their location or driving there. She likes to listen to classical music, as she thinks it's good to calm herself down and focus. She also listens to music while she's training or teaching people how to fight, she has also taught her mentees to do the same.

Renaissance's mentor program is an idea of her creation. She's the one who brought it up to the officials, and it is fortunate that they thought it's a great idea and now that it has been created. She helps people of all ages, and a large number of Renaissance's members all know who she is due to her mentor program.

Two of her siblings are in police work, and they were the ones who taught her things she passed down to others, like how to fire a gun, how to effectively steal from people, and how to pick locks. This is not necessarily a skill set her parents wanted her to have, but she managed to receive them anyway. However, her weakest skill is lock picking, and she actually prefers kicking doors down over picking their locks.

She was born on April 24, making her a Taurus.

Tauruses are not typically known as leaders, a reason Violetta turned down a council position. Instead, she is loyal to the cause and to the society, and does whatever she is able to help when it comes to a mission, even if those participating in it are not members of her own section. However, that doesn't necessarily mean she's a follower. Violetta has a certain independence, and while she isn't wholly brave and reckless, she doesn't really follow anyone. She is also protective over those she loves, her friends and family are the ones who are guarded the most.

Unlike Tauruses, Violetta is not deeply sensitive. She is extremely empathetic, but she does not take a lot of things to heart. She likes to think she's got a thick skin, which makes sense considering her upbringing with her multiple siblings. She has a few friends, and many acquaintances, unlike a Taurus. She likes having multiple people to call friends or acquaintances, because she's a good listener.

MBTI Type: ENTJ

Reflection v Reputation:

Violetta's "popularity" is not exactly clear to Renaissance. She is certainly one of the top agents, and one of the first people the council goes to whenever there's a tough mission to crack. Most people would know her for her record of successful missions, which she appreciates, but she is also humbled by her supposed legacy. Bottom line is that people in the system know her, but their opinion of her can be mixed. Some may say she is stupid for not taking a council position, others may think she's too old to be an agent. Either way, she pays no mind to criticism, unless it helps her in any way.

She does have a few friends, all of which she loves very much. They are the people who, in her opinion, keeps her grounded, especially when she's out trying to survive in a mission. Along with her family, these are the people she trusts in her life, and while others may have some negative opinions regarding her, they are the ones that know how great of a listener she is and how good she is at giving advice, even if she's never been in the situation herself.

In her opinion, she has a healthy self-esteem. She is both confident and humble, a perfect harmony of her inner reflection. She doesn't think of herself as a goddess, or one that is incredibly beautiful and extremely talented. She knows where she stands, her capabilities and things she cannot do, and she lives with that. She is extremely humbled by the compliments she received, whether by appearance or personality wise. She likes the attention she gets, and the compliments it comes with, but she often makes sure to stay down to earth and true to herself.

Possible relationships:

I know that these will be discussed with the players of these characters, but these are just based off the connections that are already canon.

Jerome Daley -- He is described as her on/off fling, and I think that their relationship goes beyond that. Edmund is someone she loves and trusts fully, both romantically and platonically, that's why she's even seeing him. But with both of them in the system, things are a little hard for them when it cames to a relationship, which is why they often break up when things are about to get better.

Gemma Salazar -- Gemma is her favourite mentee, and could anyone blame her? She is extremely fond of the younger woman, for her righteousness and confidence. Violetta has become sort of a surrogate mom figure for Gemma, and I like to think that while the agents' personal lives are protected by the council and the other leaders, Violetta knows Gemma's parents and the rest of her family.

First thing's first: I'm Kyna, eighteen years old, my pronouns are she/her, and because I currently live along the east coast, my time zone is EST.

Now, the fun things: According to a personality test I took in school (and a few others I took in my free time, at home), I'm an INFP. I am also a Pisces, and my birthday happens to be on March 16. My Hogwarts House, according to the multiple quizzes I've taken, is Slytherin which is something I am 100000% sure of.

Important Information:

I don't have any triggers, as far as I'm concerned, so there isn't anything to worry about when it comes to that. Of course, there may be topics that I may not be comfortable writing, and in that case, I'll let my partner know.

Activity:

I'm not going to lie, my activity can be pretty shaky. I'm currently in my last year of high school, and I'm trying to graduate with good marks and a few extra-curricular activities here and there. But, when I'm not doing my homework and other responsibilities, I do set aside time for roleplay, and since I'm the admin of this group, this will definitely be a priority of mine, no doubt about it. I'll try to be as active as I can on the dash, but if not, I will most definitely be on the main page.

Desired Character:

Winona Aislinn King.

Winona [ an Anglicised form of the Dakota name, meaning "first born daughter." ] Historically, this name was given to Dakota Sioux Chief, Wapasha III's daughter. This name has also been given to actresses, artists, activists, and politicians. Adelaide King gave her first daughter this name, under the assumption that she will have more children, that this blue-eyed beauty is only the first of many. She was right, though unfortunately, the rest of her children are not with her first husband. This name has a reputation in history for women who are good at their craft and aren't afraid to speak out their beliefs, which is a way Winona herself had grown up.

Aislinn [ an Irish name and variation of Aisling, meaning "dream" or "vision." ] This name has a relation to the arts, as an Aisling is a poetic genre in the late seventeenth and eighteenth century. However, this was not a given name until the twentieth century. People with this name and other variations tend to be creative and assertive, often expressing their beliefs even when it may be wrong or they may be put down for it. This name was chosen by her father, thinking that it will give his daughter a sense of creativity he and his wife lacked.

King [ an English, Scottish, and French name, meaning a position in royalty. ] The French surname is associated with orphanages in Frnce, where children were given the last name Roi/Roy, as they were often called the King's Children. In history, there was a group of young girls who were given a dowry by the King and were sent to Quebec in the 16th century. For immigrants, the name was then Americanised to King. This surname was given to the family years ago, when her father's family was still in France.

Winona doesn't have much of an opinion on her name. To her, it is an "It is what it is," situation. While her family doesn't have any traditions when it comes to naming their children, she admires her parents' decision when it came to her name. She also admires that they both had the ability to each pick one name for her, though she is certain that it was the only compromise her parents were capable of doing. While she doesn't have any heavy opinion on her name, she does like it. She thinks it's a count down, since her first name has three syllables, her middle has two, and her last has one.

It is fortunate that Winona likes her name, since she has never gained a nickname. Her mother calls her "dear," and her father called her "baby." Her friends never called her any type of special nickname either, so she was stuck with just "Winona."

Why did you choose this character?

Winona is my literal child -- okay, maybe not my literal child, but she's a muse that I've been dying to play for years now. She has all sorts of sides to her; the sweet one that she showed to her friends, family, and other people she thinks are in need of a smile. She can also be pretty sarcastic and witty, which is definitely not something people would find in the typical "nice girl." Winona is the girl people often over look, because she's just average; she doesn't excel in school (in fact, she's below average in that department), and she lacks in a lot of skills. However, despite all that, she also pursues what she thinks is right, and what she wants to do, no matter what -- even if she can be wrong sometimes.

Quotations:

"She's the type of girl that can be so hurt but can still look at you and smile." -- Marilyn Monroe. This mainly talks about her facade, and how she likes to make sure she is at a safe distance from getting hurt emotionally. All of this is due to her pride, not because she is strong enough to fight her emotions and act like this genuinely. She likes to think she has a reputation, and she'd like to keep it.

"Fear doesn't shut you down, it wakes you up." -- Veronica Roth, Divergent. This is about her tendency to take risks. She likes to conquer her fears head on, and this is merely a prime example of that. She's the girl who doesn't want her fears to stop her from doing what she thinks she's capable of doing, and this also shows how capable she is of doing something just because someone told her that she couldn't do it.

"Before I am your daughter, your sister, your aunt, niece, or cousin, I am my own person, and I will not set fire to myself to keep you warm." -- egracely. In my headcanon, her father gave her an advice about making sure she looks out for herself first. So, this quote is definitely applicable, because it shows Winona's attitude in that she's for herself first, before she's for other people. She believes that if she isn't capable of protecting herself, she's not capable of doing so for anyone else.

"Me, first. That isn't selfish, it's necessary." -- daeizm. Similar to the one above, this shows that Winona needs to take care of herself first. While some people think putting others first is noble, she thinks putting herself first is the true most important thing. As stated above, she thinks that if she cannot save herself, she isn't capable of saving others either.

Headcanons:

Winona definitely makes time to see her family, either during the holidays or when she has her vacation days. She likes to drive up especially in the winter -- she has always been a winter girl, and Los Angeles hasn't changed that about her. She loves seeing her siblings, and actually enjoys spending time with them, especially since the time is so short.

When it comes to habits, she tends to chew on her fingernails. This leaves her nails to be crooked and strange looking, and her nail polish hardly ever sticks because she either bites it off or picks at it. She also gets extremely sweaty palms when she's nervous, so she likes to shove her hands in her pockets.

There are definitely instances when Winona has a lot of time in her hands. During those free moments, she likes to go to amusement parks and ride all of the coasters and other attractions. She also likes to go to the beach and parasail or learn how to surf, and she's definitely the kind of girl to go to clubs and drink -- with or without her friends. Mostly, she likes to work on her computer program and sketch designs in her notebook.

In her youth, she wanted to be an architect. While she isn't the worst at math, she decided against that dream and chased after computer science instead, figuring she'll make a much better income as an IT girl than a budding architect. She still designs buildings, however, and a majority of her sketches are actually buildings of what she'd want her home and office to look like in the future.

While she may seem like it, Winona isn't completely fearless. She fears much simpler things than most people -- she fears commitment, she fears being betrayed. She definitely has a fear of getting hurt, though more in an emotional sense than a physical one.

She is currently 26 years old, having been born on January 21, the day that starts the Aquarius section of the birthdays.

Aquarius is known as the sign of visionaries, unconventionality, and intellectual independence. People who fall under this sign are unique and deviate from the crowd. They are entitled to their opinions while respecting that of others. An Aquarius is a free spirit, and often acts like themselves, unafraid of criticism. They also don't tend to follow tradition and are very good conversationalists in that they are witty and non-judgemental.

Aquariuses may also be masters of manipulation and can find a way to justify their opinions. They are known for picking at anyone who seems weak minded or dull, which is merely an exercise and they never actually mean any harm. While they have the reputation for being unemotional, they do make great friends and lovers under the lack of emotional depth that can be found.

Appearance: Winona has her father's best features. Light ash brown hair which she dyes blonde, bright blue eyes, soft and almost round features. She has her mother's roughness, however, with her dark eyeliner and darkened eyebrows. But sometimes, she abandons the cosmetics and goes naturally. She also has her mother's frame and height, which is considered a blessing by some.

Reflection v Reputation

When she looks in the mirror, Winona sees herself for who she truly is: a pretty girl who wears a lot of dark eye make up. She smiles at herself and sees the beauty others may see, or want to see, in her. She thinks she's a goddess, and she should be treated as such. She holds herself in the highest of esteems because she feels like she deserves it. She's the kind of person who thinks: yes, this is me; I am beautiful and I can tear your entire life apart by just lifting a finger.

Others may see her as a rude girl for her unapologetic ways and "I only love myself" attitude. This is important to note because yes, she does reveal herself like this to people. She purposely makes them see what she wants. Because yes, she has a complete "no bullshit" attitude in that she isn't afraid to tell people what she thinks. She is aware that people only see her rough edges, and this is completely fine with her. She wouldn't have it any other way. This is her façade, even if she is mostly an open book.

Due to her loudness, she definitely attracts attention -- though not intentionally. People don't notice her when she walks into a room unless she has noticeable features everyone else in the room doesn't have. But when she interacts with people, it's when she catches attention. She's filled with loud laughter and long rants, and she doesn't quite know how to keep her volume down.

When it comes to interactions, she likes to make people laugh with her, not about her. While she doesn't mind the latter, she obviously prefers the former. She makes plenty of jokes, in the expense of others in most cases, and tries to get on people's good sides. There are certainly times when she fails at this and ends up offending others, but due to her stubborn nature, she hardly apologises first, and if she does, it's a big deal for her as she doesn't like to admit she's wrong.

There is a half-empty bottle of whiskey sitting on the floor next to Winona's feet. She picks it up from time to time, taking large gulps as she reads through the email her father has sent her; another apology, another holiday greeting over the internet. It is almost a tradition, the combination of alcohol and her father's email. It is almost necessary to do so -- almost because she's spent her younger years without it, and now she owes herself the favour.

Truthfully, she feels like she owes herself and her mom three months worth of favours, because it has never been enough for her during those months to shut out her father. After all, he was the man that told her in the ripe old age of eight that if someone hurts her, she has to cut them off entirely; no excuses, no remorse. As far as she is concerned, he lost her the moment she heard him on the telephone with someone else, and it was obvious that it was neither her mother nor a "friend."

She stops reading his huge bulks of text, he always types up huge essays when emailing her, and she only reads it halfway through. After the first email he's sent her, she figures they all start and end the same way, the prominent message being: "I know I fucked up, but you have to forgive me, I'm your father." She doesn't forgive him -- she doesn't even consider it. Doing so would be betraying her mother, and what kind of person would she be if she hurt someone in the same way they've been hurt before?

In the end, he attaches pictures. A few of her father, who is now two years old ("Terrible twos and dying to meet his sister!" Her father writes as a caption.) There are a couple of pictures of him and his wife ("The cheater and the whore," she mumbles as she looks at them.) But most of the pictures are either of his son or his dogs, because she is sure he knows by know that she doesn't care for images of him and his new wife.

With a sigh, she closes the email and puts it into the server's trash bin, and then deletes it from there. She's almost upset that there's no read receipt in email, because there's no idea that she enjoys more than her father knowing she's read his email, but hasn't responded -- and never will. Yet, at the same time, she likes the idea that it doesn't, since her father must be wondering if she'd read the email or if she just trashes it like he must expect her to.

She picks up her music player's remote and turns it on, one of her favourite songs beginning to blast from her stereo. She stands up and grabs the bottle of whiskey, dancing around her living room, occasionally taking swigs and trying not to hit her furniture.
