Spoilers Ahead In Case The Tags Don’t Work.
Because @jjofalltrades and I were just discussing this and I’m seeing a lot of hate and disappointment on here.
In all honestly, I am okay with the way Dean died. It was poetic and fitting in so many ways.
You have to remember them in this episode the way they were in the very beginning. Two guys, doing what they do. Saving people, hunting things.
There were no angels, no witches to ressurect them anymore. They were truly on their own once again doing what needed to be done.
This is the life they chose, and continue to choose after everyone else had moved on, died, or simply were not around anymore. They knew the risks and guess what, they chose to fight anyway cause that’s who they are. Heroes.
They went in, saved those boys and fought some vamps. It was an accident, it happens and it could happen to any hunter in that situation. It was a very normal kind of death for the kind of lives that they have led.
Dean said his peace, he got to have a final moment with his brother and once he knew Sam was going to be okay, he let go.
And the same with Sam, once he knew his son would be okay he let go too, knowing he’d be reunited with Dean.
So yeah, Dean’s death was satisfying for me. And then in heaven, after Bobby told him they way the new heaven worked, he was happy. Truly, happy.
I refuse to believe that Sam’s wife was anyone other than Eileen. I kept waiting the whole time for either Sam or little Dean to use sign language from afar to let us know that was her. What a bummer on that end.
As far as everyone saying that they’d wish the other family members and friends would have made an appearance in Dean’s heaven? Look, the similarities between this episode and how The Vampire Diaries ended was already too much, so to have them bring back everyone just like TVD did would have really pissed me off, so I am glad they didn’t.
The endings would have literally been the exact fucking same, and then it would have been on the same level for me as the Game of Thrones finale was, and that would be really fuckin sad.
I enjoyed it, I cried, I laughed.
Could it have been better? Probably, I’m sure thinking about it we can come up with several alternatives that would have made it better and less copied from another CW show. But IMO it could have been much worse. Besides, we will ALWAYS have fan fiction.
It fit, in the end it was just two brothers, Sam and Dean, on a hunting trip just like it was at the very start. They fought, they kicked ass, they saved people, and they loved each other no matter. That’s what truly counts.
*(I do not ship Deistel, so do not come @ me in regards to how that could have ended better. I am neither for nor against you. For me it’s all about the brothers. I probably spelled it wrong too.)
