‘Relax, we’re just eating. You should be happy we’re even out of that cell. It’s about time, don’t you think?’
Elijah pulled his hood up over his head and kept his eyes down. “There are just so many-” He glanced around the cafeteria and swallowed. For the last six years of his life, he’d been in this place. Stuck in these halls but it was better this way. So much better. At least in here he couldn’t hurt anyone else. Well, they couldn’t hurt anyone else. The news papers called him a hellhound when they started finding bodies. It took everyone so damn long to track him down because Lucifer was that good. Cops didn’t want to call him a Serial killer because he had no pattern. No motive other than to kill for the sake of killing. Hell they thought it was an animal at first, not a man, but they never guessed a demon. The king of hell.
‘-people. I know. Doesn’t matter. We aren’t a person. They can’t hurt us, we hurt them.’
“I don’t wanna hurt them.” Eli mumbled as he looked across the table at his counter part. An exact replica of himself. Physically anyways. Lucifer was bored. He could tell just by the look on his face. He wanted control but Elijah wasn’t willing to hand it over just yet. Even if he was ready to lose it. For the past six months he’d been in solitary. The only person he’d seen for half a year, other than Lucifer, was a nurse. She came in once a week to take his health check and then left. Food, water, clothing, medication was all delivered through a slot in the door.
‘After all this time, I really thought you may get a little less boring, Elijah. Now why don’t you run along and let me take care of us.’
Pushing his fork into his mouth, Eli shook his head. Though his heart rate jumped up when he felt someone sit down next to him. Lucifer was looking but he kept his eyes down. Scared of what he might see. Scared of what he might do if he let go of his control. Control that often went when stress came. Emotions pushed forwards and Eli fell backwards. He was still, rigid like a plank of wood as whoever was next to him, settled in.
