And you shine bright. Brighter than you ever let yourself see. A boy. Who has a family. Who has commitments. Who made sacrifices. Who’s feet shuffled by the door of opportunity before you had the courage to pull on the handle and take the first step in. You’re a boy who’s features mask everything but who’s face hides nothing. Who’s spirit flies out, winged, dancing out of the crevices of your own soul- inspiring thousands more. In your eyes there is darkness- not one of dark intent but of the naive. Your mind doesn’t know you half as much as your body does. Fluid motions of a dreamer, friend, brother, and a son. Your dreams flew high and you reached for them grabbing at its tails. When it seemed that your grip was too loose you held on and grabbed tighter and you kept what was important to you- and lost a bit of what the others thought mattered. You shone in their midst and grew your own wings with not just your talent but your passion and your desire. And the flame grew until it could escalate no more and you were flattered- flattered that your wings proved to be good enough. Good enough for them and the sky- the stars. But I still see a boy. Maybe just a boy…who was forced grow up a little too fast. Who wished to be what he had become or something more. A man.
