Honestly, it started as a whim.
You had talked to her, or tried to talk to her. She ignored you a little bit but you expected that. You came in everyday to see what they had for sale next and there she was, always working.
You brought her a pear one day. It wasn’t the oranges that were native to your town and you figured she’d appreciate it more than you would.
She didn’t say anything as you walked up to her and placed the fruit on the far corner of her work space. That little part of the desk that you noticed wasn’t used all that much.
“For you!” you said softly, leaving with only a little wave in the two Hedgehog’s direction before leaving the shop.
The next day you had brought a peach, she was still silent as you deposited it onto her desk. The last fruit was gone, and no reminisce of it was left. You stood there, fidgeting with your bag strap. “Did you like the pear?” You asked as you placed the fuzzy fruit.
She looked up at you momentarily. “I did. Thank you.”
You could feel your face growing hot. “I’m glad! E-Enjoy this one too!”
She looked at the peach and slowed her sewing machine, touching it softly. “Thank you.” She almost whispered, and you were enamored.
Her voice was soft, she sounded a bit tired but kind. You wanted to hear more.
“It’s no problem!” You had said, a little too loudly you thought. You knew this as you scampered nervously out of the shop in embarrassment.
You scrambled toward the nook shop and hid outside at the back. You giggled to yourself nervously as you fought to keep your giddiness down.
And then there was a sudden realization that dawned over you. You didn’t buy any clothes!
You’d…..You’d have to walk back in there………
