I always try to answer questions/comments from non-mutuals in good faith. English might not be their first language, they might be young and/or naive or they might not ‘get the joke’ (especially if they haven’t spent the last 30 years marinating in internet culture.)
Of course, that does leave me wide open for the occasional ‘epic troll’ like the one I had this morning where a person questioned my latest trans girl line-up pic: "I don’t get it", "Why did you call them criminals?" I answered in the most honest way I could but of course they were just looking for an excuse to troll and it devolved into name-calling and slurs.
