The rest of the galaxy may have dodged the proverbial asteroid, on this account. While purely defensive in nature, [halpha] technology was advanced beyond anything even the combined Space Corps could muster. Besides their master of subspace, they possessed personal cloaking devices that could render them undetectable in the electromagnetic spectrum visible to most all species, and their phase-shifting generators were allegedly able to nudge an object slightly outside our physical universe, allowing them- from an outsider’s perspective- to pass through solid matter.

Though few in number, [halpha] commandos in full combat gear were experts at boarding the few pirate ships foolish enough to invade their territory, moving unseen through the thickest bulkheads and efficiently exterminating any hostile crew in minutes. And, of course, a starship that cannot be touched would be both impervious to sensors that need a surface to reflect off of…and weapons that need to be able to touch their target to do damage. 

ok so becca came up with the same sort of thing you said: that halpha clothing could be made of a special kind of cloth, thats been ‘watermarked’ or something with the artisan’s name like a signature, and i had the idea that maybe vlad’s father (who isnt talked about in the show so i figured it would be an interesting opportunity to make one up) was a huge bigshot in the halpha society because he made these super-culturally-important family scarves which is why vlad is considered a nobleman

and so i came up with the name/nickname ‘masters’ (insert joke here about vlad being mistaken for his father and hes like ‘oh no please, mr masters is my FATHER. call me vlaaad’. haha), and so like when the fentons first find danny wrapped with his scarf they notice that it has some sort of writing so they go to clockwork or the far frozen or someone who knows lots of languages to translate. so they can tell what it says but not what it represents so they misread it as ‘masters’ and think it’s like dannys last name or something, only its not his last name because he doesnt have one. (theres a reason i think ‘masters’ in itself should be a misinterpretation but ill get to that later just roll with me here.)

because danny was old enough to tell the fentons his name, but he doesnt have a concept of a last name because (a) he was too young to know what a last name would be in the first place and (b) it was my personal headcanon that halphas dont have last names at all, not just danny. because for one thing there arent a whole ton of halphas to necessitate second names (especially not after the planet has been destroyed), and for another they distinguish family by color of scarf. e.g. danny, vlad, ‘mr masters’, danielle, and desiree all having that blue/teal. and maybe for a third thing, its one thing to say youre family in name but another to act like it??? and like if you dont feel part of the family you wear a different color or something idk. i like to throw cultural perspective on everything from dress to naming conventionssss

flash forward to after the scarf gets ripped or something and danny gives jazz a piece, she takes a closer look at the scarf. she notices the watermark but doesnt know what it says or means, either, because maybe her parents never told her about the masters thing because ‘dannys a fenton too, dammit’. or something.

or maybe they told danny so hed know more about his culture, and not jazz because she didnt need to know. but why would they keep it a secret from jazz ahhhfhh idk what im even talking about anymore. sorry im just trying to reconcile this in my head…  im having a hard time doing logical gymnastics to justify ‘masters’ as a name simply because masters has no ‘d’ in it and ive already established its a cultural thing to have a ‘d’ in halpha names. sorry to people who have already given danny ‘daniel masters’ as a real name!! i love all your fics and i dont want to ruin your fun naming this kid;;; keep doing what youre doing if thats an idea you like! i think its clever and i like the idea myself
