Honestly in my humble opinion, DC should've made Parallax scarier and more compelling instead of just a space bug (along with the other space bugs).
It should've been a neutral force, because only through fear, a mortal being can know its limits. Fear is not meant to discourage, it is meant to preserve, to prolong life. It should be benevolent, but at our own's expenses, and that is why it is neutral, not evil.
Also I need Fear to be seen and felt only in the minds of those who have to fight it. The roots of paranoia should be unable to be seen, be heard, or be understood by any other but those who suffer it.
Just like how Parallax was inside Hal Jordan, no one knew it, no one understood it, the man with no Fear could not make his Fear be seen and heard, so he needed to make others feel it with him. And I think it's a perfect analogy for the kind of mental torture Parallax truly was to a man invincible anywhere else but his own mind.

This stitch had the foreground mobile suit's body moving in parallax against the Kowloon Gundam, with its head drifting away from its body a bit. To minimize stitching pain, I chose the frame with a minimum amount of torso running all the way across the bottom of the frame, then stitched to that the frame with the most amount of torso. The rest of the image was pulled from whatever frame had the most of Kowloon Gundam; I didn't really care about the positioning of the head.
Me upon seeing how Parallax!Hal Jordan looks in the comics
