i don’t mind sharing ;) i hope this doesn’t come across as harsh against anyone who likes the episode, i just hated it personally, but also there are eps that most people hate of sunny that i really like, so it’s just my personal opinion 

here’s my issues with it:

other than dennis, everyone had a super weak storyline

mac and dee are just sitting there the whole time, charlie and frank are just going down water slides, they’re not really interacting with other people at the park (except that one kid who barely has any lines in the water slide with dee and mac)

why are they at the park besides people in the writers room just going “ok what has the gang not done before..... gone to a water park? like there’s no social commentary angle or anything deeper than surface level in the concept so it’s just kinda like... why tho?

i don’t like aids jokes 

i’ve read guts many times, so not only was that joke with mac not fresh to me, but they overplayed it way too much and he kept mentioning buttholes every 2 seconds and it never got funny imo

plus it just felt kinda lazy and homophobic to make it all ~gay dudes love having their buttholes sucked right? ew gross lol~ and have mac just be like randomly Obsessed with it the entire time they’re there

that montage in the middle was like really unnecessary and felt like it was just to kill time in the episode (esp cause i mean i remember charlie day talking about montages in an episode commentary once and he was saying how they’re hard to make work and this one... didn’t work imo)

there wasn’t Really that much conflict in it like, the gang was all getting along and they weren’t really /not/ getting along with people outside the gang other than like disobeying lifeguards so it just felt really bland to me

the end did come together to something greater than the individual storylines but also it grossed me out and like i said, i don’t like aids jokes 

plus like, again, i don’t always like iasip’s social commentary but it was literally Just an aids joke not even an attempt at social commentary (unless i just didn’t pick up on it, if i missed something please tell me)

even though i liked dennis storyline pretty well, i thought the girl character was like... idk kinda predictable i guess? like she didn’t strike me as a very creative or original one off character

like to contrast, i really love that lady from the gang beats boggs that dennis sleeps with because everything about her costume design, the way the actress plays her, and her characterization make her a memorable and while she’s definitely based on a kinda white trash stereotype, she feels fleshed out, whereas abby didn’t feel like much more than an idea of “wouldn’t it be funny if a little girl (who looks innocent and sweet) was actually a manipulative scammer?” and they didn’t take her anywhere further than that

also like this isn’t a complaint but she’s the same character as was in the two parter in malcolm in the middle where they go to the water park and then get stuck in a traffic jam and i think that’s a funny coincidence 

like, it’s not the worst sunny episode ever or anything, but i don’t see why it's rated so highly on imdb personally
