Best of me (Nice Thoughts Challenge) // Rodney
"Gather 'round, my fellow Tulsans and mighty Greasers!"
Rodney knew how to project his voice, from as far back as he can remember, he loved attention and being the center of it. Being shy or nervous in front of a crowd was as foreign to him as the French language. He didn't know it. Nor did he really know much tact. The moment he got the challenge, there was no inner turmoil of what to say or how to do it publicly. It was just 'when the hell do I get to do this?'
"Shout out to Little Wilson for the nomination, yes, it's now my turn for this 'Nice Thoughts Challenge.' Apparently they are limiting it to only five, so that's a bit unfortunate. Here we go, motherfuckers!" He leaped up on a picnic table that may or may not have actually been sturdy enough to hold him. "Number 1, Imma damn fine leader, birthright or not, the natural ability is jus' there. Number 2, beat me down an' I'm gonna come back stronger. It's a fact, I learn from mistakes an' I ain't gonna repeat 'em. Number 3, I gotta admit, that being 'round me is a wicked time for all involved. I know how to entertain. Number 4, Car will speak for this, despite appearances, I'm a pretty thoughtful boyfriend, now fiance. I'm a damn good one of those too. Number 5, and definitely not th' least, is you lot. Th' best part o' me will always be my Greasers and my Wolf Pack. Each o' ya are my favorite part of who I am, you are a piece of my own heart. " From a celebration of himself to a sincere declaration of his love for these people, he finished on a slightly softer note. "I love all of ya."
Standing tall, he shouted, "that's it! Five things I love about myself, and I could keep going, but instead I'm gonna pick some shits to do this now. The one who keeps my ego in check, love of my life: Carmen Welch. Your turn, baby. I want all of th' Wolf Pack to do this, so if you ain't been nominated yet, consider yourselves nominated. I think that's only the Voxing siblings and Mama left, but the rest of ya better get to doin' this challenge now."
Leaning his head back, he released a loud, resounding howl that was echoed by a few members of the crowd. This is why he loved his life, loved his town: these people right in front of him.
