CW stabbing, blood, fire.
"What?" K called out without turning around.
"Are you going to kill them?" J asked, stopping next to K. In front of them were around ten people wearing masks of some animal that looked like a bear but actually wasn't. They were all tied up together, struggling and grumbling out insults. K kicked a pebble into one of the woman's faces, causing her to yelp and sputter.
"Obviously," K answered flatly, not even sparing J a sideways glance.
"You shouldn't." He gazed at a man that was positively frothing at the mouth trying to get out of his bonds to, no doubt, leap at him as J continued.Ā Ā "They know a lot that we don't."
"I got information from them already," K replied. "About everything."
"How do you know?"
"D read his-" K gestured to a man that was staring at the ground, the only one of the people who was silent. "-mind. And I double checked." By torturing him, K didn't say. He didn't need a lecture from J of all people. Well, J probably wouldn't lecture him. He'd annoy him, at worse, or make a surprised comment, at best.
"Mind Reading isn't fool proof," J pointed out. K could feel the man's assessing gaze on him, not remarkable unless felt frequently. Which K had, especially since losing his "moral compass" as his companions had deemed it. It was actually just his emotions.
"It's fool proof enough," K said, stepping on some guy's foot, making him flinch and squeal like a baby. Pathetic. He heard J shuffle his feet, probably uncomfortable. He was pathetic too. He should be used to these things by now, and should be more willing to participate in them as well.Ā Ā But no, J was-
"How do you know?" J repeated.
- a wimp. A smart one at times, but a wimp nonetheless.
"D's pretty biased right now. They could've missed something."Ā Ā K looked sideways at J. J wasn't looking at him. His gaze was stuck somewhere in front of him, distant and unseeing, as if recalling a memory. "Not just something." K flexed his hand and a dagger formed in it. "It could be-"
"J." K set his other hand on J's shoulder, feeling him stiffen just a bit. He turned the man towards himself and thrust the dagger forward, driving it into J's stomach. The sound of it was louder than J's sudden intake of breath, an almost obscene squelch.
J's expression shuttered, and K saw his hands twitch at his sides. Blood welled up rapidly, spreading with a warm rush over J's shirt, some coating K's fingers.
"Don't interfere, yeah?" K's lips upturned but there was no mirth in his voice and no amusement in his eyes. J stared at him, trying to pull back as horror and pain flitted over his face, his mouth opening without any sound. K let go of the hilt of the dagger, pushing J down onto his knees, and that's when he finally let out a small gasp. Or maybe a whimper. K couldn't tell; he was already turning back to the group tied in front of him, who were now watching him with a mix of fright and disgust.
He raised his hand, a faint glow enveloping it, and closed his eyes. Right as he opened them, the people in front of him spontaneously caught on fire. Screams filled the air, an ear-piercing noise that he couldn't focus on because of the low, almost inaudible moans of pain behind him. The smell of burning flesh was sharp and pungent, enough to cover the scent of blood.
He spun on his feet, fisting a hand in J's hair and yanking roughly on the strands. "You really need to shut up," K stated, gazing into J's tear-filled, hazy eyes. It was a great look on him, pain. Maybe K should do this sort of thing more often. J would definitely give him excuses to do so, he mused to himself, as he dropped to his knees.
"I won't be so nice-" K grabbed the hilt of the dagger and pulled it out with a vicious twist, and J's voice joined the herd of shrieks for a brief moment. "-next time."
J's eyebrows furrowed in something like confusion, but it turned to fear as K reached for his head. He tried to move away and hissed in pain. "Wh-wha.."
K placed his hand over J's forehead. In the next moment, the man tipped forward, unconscious, his head lolling onto K's shoulder. K wouldn't have wasted that time, but he didn't want to listen to J's voice for a while. Unless they were screams.
But to do that, K would need to make sure that J wouldn't just die after a single injury, like he was close to right now.
He closed his eyes, healing J's wound as he thought about all the ways he could shut the man up without killing him.
(Just realized that J and K are consecutive letters lol. It wasn't intentional)
