Building a text-based RWBY adventure!
Hello! Some quick background on me. My name is Sun, and I’m a 15 year old video-game obsessed computer programmer. I’ve been programming since I was about eleven, teaching myself C# and building games in Unity. When I hit highschool last year I was programming in all of my free time, making games and teaching myself all I could. This year I was put into AP Computer Science A where I’m reinforcing everything I’ve learned and learning stuff outside of that. So I got the brilliant idea, over the RWBY hiatus, to program my own Rwby game! Last March I started sketching out ideas and such to get my plan in motion, but quickly figured out I’d need a team to do everything I was hoping to accomplish. And as a broke kid, that would be next to impossible. So I took a break over the spring and summer, finished and released my first game on itch.io, wrote fanfiction, etc But, two months ago as i was at home trying out some new programming methods, I realized that i COULD make a rwby game without a team- I could make a text-based one!
So for the last few weeks I’ve been banging away at my computer, making a text-based RWBY game. My question to the RWBY community is this- what would you guys like to see in a game like this? My vision is to have someone create a character, weapon, weapon name, semblance, join a team, etc. and after all of that, they’d start to go on adventures with their team! I have a bunch of storylines tucked away that I like so far, and some ideas for a combat system- although I’m not sure if should be scripted or an actual battle. I’m finished with the team system, you can choose to be a team leader or be a part of it and not the leader. I’ve also just finished out the weapon system- you can have a gun, bow, or shotgun- or a mele weapon like a staff, scythe, sword, or hammer. I’m planning on adding a few more before I release it to anyone.
But, to cut to the chase, what would you guys like to see? A storyline, weapon, feature, anything? I want to make this game for the community, and so I want people’s feedback!
