During the day, Vacuo has a relentless heat. The sunrays shimmer over endless sand, bearing down until even breathing feels like a challenge. When the stars come out however, the entire kingdom transforms. The air cools, the stars stretching as far as the eye can see.
Ruby feels like she belongs in it.
Weiss is sitting beside her on a blanket laid out just within the city walls, but far enough away that they won’t be disturbed. Cloak discarded, her hair catches the moonlight, red and black rivits like a flame in the dark.
“You’re staring.” Ruby hums.
Weiss blanches, looking away immediately. “I am not.”
Ruby grins, her chin dipping. “You absolutely were.”
“I was simply appreciating the scenery.”
“Right.”
Weiss wrinkles her nose. “The scenery, petal. Not everything is about you.”
Ruby just smiles, her lashes fluttering on her cheeks. “I like when you call me that. Petal.”
Her voice is soft and it works its way down Weiss’s spine. Ruby knows Weiss well enough to see through her but never truly gives her grief for it.
Together they have spent years saving kingdoms, fighting monsters and carrying responsibilities that are too heavy for girls of their age. There are still days where Ruby’s hands shake too hard to hold Crescent Rose, and nights when Weiss wakes up in a cold sweat, expecting a world altering emergency.
But for tonight, the evening belongs to them.
Ruby has packed a small picnic, but calling it that is generous. Half the food is slightly crushed from being carried around in her bag, and one of the pastries is definitely missing a corner because Ruby “needed to make sure it was still good.”
Weiss had pretended to be annoyed, and had also eaten the rest.
“I still can’t believe you convinced me to come all the way out here,” Weiss says.
Ruby tilts her head. “And I can’t believe it took you 20 minutes to decide what to wear.”
Weiss scoffs. “I had to find something weather appropriate.”
“You changed three times.”
“The first two were…” Weiss pauses, her mouth twisting. “Impractical.”
Ruby gives an effortless laugh and Weiss finds herself smiling before she can stop it. There was a time when the sound irritated her, when Ruby’s optimism seemed rooted in naivety.
Now Weiss thinks it’s her favorite sound.
Ruby notices Weiss’s face shift, and she extends her hand, slipping her fingers between hers. “You okay?”
Weiss looks down at their joined hands, at the scars on Rubys knuckles. At her own fingers that once only knew how to carry a sword and a family name.
“I am.” Weiss replies, and she means it.
Ruby squeezes her hand. “Good.”
They settle into silence, an effortless one that doesn’t make Weiss’s anxiety spike. Eventually Ruby lays on her back, pulling Weiss with her.
“Look.” She whispers, and Weiss follows her gaze.
The stars are beautifully endless. As she stares, Weiss understands why Ruby would like a place like this. Why she chases rainbows and collects little moments and insists that life is worth having, even after everything that’s been done to them.
“This is nice,” Ruby sighs and smiles a little. “No missions. No Grimm. Just being happy.”
“You deserve it.” Weiss replies, shifting closer, her head resting on Ruby’s shoulder.
Ruby looks down at her. “We deserve it.”
Weiss is still learning all of this, that happiness isn’t something she has to earn. That she can sit beneath the Vacuo sky with Rubys fingers on her skin and know that she doesn’t have to be perfect to be loved.
Moving her neck, Ruby presses a kiss to Weiss’s head, and Weiss closes her eyes.
The world can wait until tomorrow; tonight is theirs.
Summary: when Weiss becomes sick of the teasing from her teammates after she breaks up with Jaune, she unwittingly loops Ruby into a plan.

With classes behind them and suitcases packed, Weiss and the rest of her teammates are beyond ready for winter break. They’re spending a week in the Atlas mountains, renting a house large enough to house four teams, not just the two. She’s been craving this trip, needs it, but the one thing she doesn’t need is the constant teasing that she knows is waiting for her.
Weiss should’ve never dated Jaune, she knows that now. Knows that even if the sex and physical chemistry was there, everything else was…not. Besides, a few weeks after their breakup, he had been stuck to Pyrrah’s side, the girl he’d told Weiss she’d never have to worry about.
Typical, but she can’t even say she’s mad about it, if anything, she’s a little relieved when she sees the two of them board the train hand in hand.
The teasing is small, little jabs that she can easily brush off with a chuckle or a roll of her eyes. By day two though, she’s sick of it. Over breakfast, Nora loudly narrates imaginary wedding plans, and Yang nearly chokes on her cereal from laughing. Weiss narrows her eyes at Blake and Ren who quietly grin as they stare into their bowls. With a sigh, Weiss looks at Ruby, expecting a similar response, and is completely thrown when she finds the opposite. Spoon in hand, Ruby is frowning at the rest of their friends before giving a little shake of her head and taking a bite of the sugary flakes.
It’s then that the idea hits Weiss and she stands up, her chair squeaking, hands splayed on the wood. “I know you all think it’s really funny that Juane and I decided to be with other people, but it isn’t. If anything, it’s probably really annoying to Pyrrah and Ruby.”
The table goes quiet, and Pyrrah tilts her head, green eyes blinking slowly. “It is a little bit, actually, for me. But why Ruby?”
“Becaus she’s my girlfriend,” Weiss says quickly, fast enough that she can’t change her mind. Ruby’s spoon falls from her hand and Weiss clears her throat. “We just, didn’t say anything yet. But since you have all insisted on being so immature, I figured you should know.”
Weiss sits back down with a huff, swiping up her utensil while the others stare at her. Ruby swallows, coughing and then says. “I am?”
“Yes,” Weiss replies with a nod. “We’re dating. Obviously. Sorry to say it so brazenly, uh, babe.”
Ruby’s ears go pink but she gives a little nod. “Right yeah, can I talk to you? In private?”
“Of course,” Weiss stands up again, ignoring the way her legs feel like jello as she walks from the table, Ruby hot on her heels. She’s barely out of the room when Ruby grabs her by the elbow and yanks her into the closest bedroom.
“What the hell!” Ruby squeaks, her tone several pitches higher than normal. “What was that about?”
“I’m sorry,” Weiss sighs, rubbing her temples. “I didn’t- uh, think that out. I was just so sick of all of them!”
“So you just what, thought you’d randomly spring a relationship on me?” Ruby asks with a quirk of her brow. “I didn’t even get a chance to ask you.”
“I rhought if I said-“ Weiss starts but then stops, her lips parting. “Wait, what?”
Ruby folds her arms, and even though she’s looking tough, her cheeks are a light shade of pink. “I thought I should give your breakup at least a month before I asked you out but, you beat me to it.”
For once, Weiss is speechless. She blinks, any sort of reply turning into ash on her tongue. Taking in her expression, Ruby snickers, her eyes crinkling at the corners. “What? You gonna say no?”
“No, I just-“ Weiss coughs. “Well I didn’t know.”
“Didn’t know what?”
“That you liked me.”
Ruby’s smile melts a little at the edges, and she takes Weiss’s hand, pulling it close until it rests on the side of Rubys cheek. The girl smiles, her eyes closing for a second before she presses her mouth to Weiss’s palm. “How could I not?”
Jaune would get home and go to his room and see Weiss sleeping which would make him smile and then he would go to his son and daughter's room and lean on the crib leaving his hand close to his babies.
Jaune: I hope I can be a good father to you two…
When Jaune would say that he would be hugged from behind and saw that it was Weiss with a calm and slightly serious expression on her face.
Weiss: How many times will I have to repeat to you that you will be a good father..
Jaune turned around hugging Weiss too and would caress her face and take the opportunity to kiss her on the forehead which would form a comfortable smile on her face.
Jaune: hehe I know you've repeated this several times but I keep remembering what happened with Lewis and Alyx..
Jaune would say that and have a sad expression on his face and Weiss would notice by placing one of her hands on his face and with a warm and comfortable smile.
Weiss: Jaune, what happened to alyx and lewis wasn't your fault, alyx was just a scared child who preferred to follow her fear but look on the bright side you were a great figure for lewis who made you be marked as one of the best hunters in the history of remmant heh.
Weiss would pull Jaune for a kiss and he would kiss back and after a few minutes the two would look at their babies and a smile forms on Jaune's face with some tears of joy.
Jaune: I promise we will be the best parents in the world.
Weiss: And I always believe in your promises.
Jaune would place his hand on the crib and see his son holding his finger, forming a small smile on the baby's face.
Jaune would be in his dorm listening to music while reading but until his door was kicked in and he would look to see it was all his friends holding a bunch of gifts. He would be confused but happy at the same time

When he was about to finish his sentence, Nora would approach and place her fingers on Jaune's lips, shutting him up while everyone entered his room, arranging the gifts.
Nora: Look after you told us that I've been stuck on an island for like 40 or 30 years we want to do something good, So sit there and enjoy the gifts!
Jaune just sighed happily and got ready and the first gift he opened would be Ruby's. It would be a personalized knife in the colors of Jaune's armor and weapon.
Jaune: Wow thanks ruby I loved this knife it seems very useful when the situation gets tough if I don't have my sword or shield.
Ruby:No problem jaune but don't forget that it can also be turned into a gun!
Jaune heard that and would make a movement with the knife that would transform it into a pistol. Yang and Blake would approach Jaune and give him a gift that had bee colors. He opened it and received a collection of books and a personalized helmet.
Blake: Well I found my old collection of ninjas of love and I thought you would like the books, I recommend reading them when you are alone.
Yang: And I made this helmet for you so that when you go for a ride on your motorcycle or something, you'll have more security, but I can't promise that it will help you stop vomiting hah.
Jaune and the others laughed at what Yang had said and he left the books and helmet next to the knife, Next was Weiss who was holding a small box with her and his color combination, He opened it and found cupcakes with his emblem and Weiss's.
Weiss: K-klein told me that a good b-birthday gift is something you made yourself, so I hope y-you like it!
Nora: Got it, you made cupcakes! That's why they have your emblem alongside his!
The people would look at Weiss who was blushing but then they would look at Jaune who was also slightly blushing so he put the cupcakes together with the presents. Winter would come close to Jaune and give him an envelope and he would open it and see a large amount of money.
Winter: You deserve this amount of money for helping to save a kingdom and for protecting my little sister until the end, Thank you very much jaune.
Emerald would approach Jaune and she would give him a rabbit keychain. He would look at it and have a happy expression on his face.
Emerald: I know it's kind of simple but I was told that you liked rabbits and well I can get you this keychain and I hope you like it.
Nora and Ren, along with Oscar, would approach with a small box that was the combination of the jnpr team's colors. Jaune opened it and saw that inside was a juniper statue with pyrrha riding on it. He would be slightly shocked but happy.
Ren: We heard how you commented on how important Juniper was to you that we made this little sculpture. And if she were here right now we'd thank her for keeping you safe.
Jaune would start crying and everyone would be worried until they noticed him laughing and looking at them with a big smile on his face.
Jaune: You are the best friends anyone could have. Thank you very much for the gifts guys
Jaune would leave the sculpture on top of the closet near his weapon and shield and hug his friends who would hug him back and they would leave the room. Jaune was going out with them until Weiss approached him and kissed him on the cheek and then wished him a happy birthday.

Jaune: Yes it was just a few grimms nothing much But I'm already getting better so I'm not too worried about that.

Jaune: Ah, they reacted well, they took care of me and we spent time together but now they are doing a mission now.

The two pairs look at each other with angry expressions and jaune would be confused until he looks to his right to see ren dressed as a bunny boy.
Jaune: Hey you look handsome you know?

Jaune would hear a discussion and would look towards the direction of the fight and see the two pairs fighting.
Weiss: No! Cats are cuter than rabbits!
Blake: We are Soft, Fluffy, Cute!
Pyrrha: Not to mention messy, Who like to break furniture and are needy!
Velvet: You got ren over there! just use him instead! Jaune is ours.

The two pairs were pulling their weapons until ren called their attention.
Ren: Instead of you fighting and getting hurt, you just don't spend time with jaune, you 4 together with him, he can decide who is the cutest animal is a win-win situation.
The pairs looked at each other after what Ren had said and then looked at Jaune with malicious smiles and jumped on top of him, hugging him and giving some kisses.

Ren: I'm sorry jaune but sacrifices are necessary...
When Ren said that he felt a hand on his shoulder and a dark energy coming from behind and he would look seeing that it was nora with hearts in her pupils and her face completely flushed.
Weiss and jaune were in the park eating ice cream, Jaune would notice that weiss's cheek was slightly dirty so he approached and licked the rest of ice cream that was on her face which would make weiss blush.
Weiss: J-Jaune why did you l-lick m-me?
Jaune: Oh it's because you had some ice cream on your face sorry.
Weiss was still blushing but hugs Jaune's arm and enjoys her time with him.
Nightmare Weiss was hanging out with Grimm Jaune. The same would notice that she had a little ice cream on her face and then he licked it but because he was a hybrid of grimm and human his tongue would be big leaving a lot of saliva on the face of weiss who was in shock and would look at him.
(N)Weiss: Why did you lick my face creature…?
(G)Jaune: You had ice cream on your face…
(N)Weiss: You could just let me know my face was dirty and not lick me!
(G)Jaune: Well look on the bright side you and ice cream taste alike~
Nightmare weiss heard that which would make her face turn completely red so she just hid her face from Grimm jaune who was laughing.

Nightmare weiss and Grimm jaune was killing several grimm's even after they were all defeated Nightmare weiss would pull Grimm jaune in for a kiss and he would look at her confused and blushing.

Grimm jaune blushed when nightmare weiss would call him ''good boy'' and she noticed that and got a sly smile approaching his face.

Grimm jaune heard that and his face turned red and hot and Nightmare weiss noticed it would pull him in for a kiss which made grimm have internal screams.
Jaune and weiss were in bed naked and slightly out of breath, hugging each other and jaune is kissing her forehead and running his hand through weiss' hair.
Jaune: Hehe you are amazing as always weiss~
Weiss: You were also amazing my noble knight~
Weiss would approach and put his face on Jaune's breastplate and hug him tight. Jaune would see this and pat her on the head.
Nightmare weiss and grimm jaune were naked on a ruined bed and looking at the ceiling with scratch marks and bites on the body and both were panting and flushed.
(N) Weiss: This was weird and amazing at the same time…
(G) Jaune: Yeah...
(N) Weiss: Wanna go again?
(G)Jaune: Hell yeah!
Nightmare weiss would pull jaune and the two would start doing ''it'' in a wild and violent way.
