As poorly as some parts of B5 have aged, the thing that pisses me off the most on rewatches is always the same. The impact of Taliaβs death on Garibaldi is shown more than the impact on Ivanova. She brings up her dead girlfriend a couple times, always briefly. Garibaldi complains about it way more.
And yes, thatβs in line with their characters. Garibaldiβs much more brash and reckless, Ivanovaβs more reserved and canβt afford to pick a fight with PsiCorps because sheβs a rogue. But sheβs got a hell of a lot more reason to be angry than Michael Garibaldi does. So much of the narrative weight on her is left to the viewer to figure out, and show donβt tell is great, but I still wanted to see it more directly.
