Runbow and Double Cross developer 13AM Games has announced Dawn of the Monsters, a four-player local cooperative kaiju brawler due out in 2020 for unannounced platforms.
Here is an overview of the game, via 13AM Games:
Dawn of the Monsters is a couch co-op, brawling action game that takes up to four players on a worldwide tour of destruction. Players take on roles from an all new cast of kaiju and are tasked with defeating the “Nephilim,” a horde of monsters that are destroying the planet. Conquer four unique worlds and unlock The Maw, an endless onslaught of kaiju brawls. Featuring beautiful 2.5D graphics inspired by the works of Mike Mignola, combat inspired by classics from the action and fighting game genres, and fully destructible environments, couch co-op in Dawn of the Monsters is bigger and badder than ever before.
13AM Games will debut an exclusive trailer for Dawn of the Monsters featuring the first public footage of the game at the opening ceremony for kaiju convention G-Fest XXVI in Chicago on July 12. More information will follow for the general public in the coming months.
The developer will also host a Dawn of the Monsters panel at G-Fest XXVI led by 13AM Games creative director and CEO Alex Rushdy, who will partner his toy company Seismic with 13AM Games to produce soft vinyl figures of the game’s lead kaiju, Megadon. G-Fest XXVI attendees can visit the Seismic booth to complete a kaiju-themed survey for a chance to win a figure.

Twilight of the Wii-U, Part 1
In 5 days time, the Nintendo Switch will finally be released to the general public along with the newest Legend of Zelda game, Breath of the Wild. Ironically, this game will also be known as the final release for the Nintendo Wii-U from Nintendo (other games from indie developers may be made, but at this point we will assume they will focus mainly on Switch support)
Considering the average life span of most systems, the Switch’s release comes at a time when the Wii-U can no longer be supported by first and second party support solely. Sure there are a few 3rd party games, but not the number needed to sustain the system. Fortunately though, there are a few gems to get and devote some time to, and there a a LOT of other games you may have overlooked in these past 5-6 years. So I decided to draw up a list of must have Wii-U titles that you really should give a go.
AND NO, I AM NOT GONNA SAY BREATH OF THE WILD BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY I DO NOT HAVE IT YET.
With that said...
SONIC AND ALL STAR RACING TRANSFORMED
It may not be Sonic’s first foray into the racing genre (Looking right at you Sonic R), but this game is a welcome addition to the mascot racing franchise. Along with many of Sonic’s friends and foes, you get racers and courses from various titles in the SEGA library (Yeah, even Panzer Dragoon gets a course here) and features of all guest stars Wreck It Ralph. And the races are pretty challenging; you will be driving down a hill one minute, next lap your ride will turn into a jet and scream across the skies firing missiles at your opponents. And we also get the return of Segata Sanshiro, proving that not even the death of the Dreamcast can keep a damn tough man down.
Now speaking of Sonic…
SONIC LOST WORLDS
Ok, lets face facts; the first two Sonic Boom titles sucked. (the 3rd one however did not thankfully) but this one was really decent. There was more emphasis on action and running than in the previous games and the DLC from Nintendo of all people was pretty freaking sweet.
SHANTAE AND THE PIRATE’S CURSE
If you are suffering from a severe lack of 2D MetroidVania like games, this game is for you. From those genius programmers at Wayfoward (who also did another must have game, DuckTales Remastered) the game has a great script and a pretty solid game world to explore. While it may be on the short side for some, it is fun and you can challenge yourself to speed runs to unlock art. And the sense of humor is very self aware.
RUNBOW
Basically the game is best described as “how to screw over your friends almost as badly as in Mario Party”, but instead of Mario, we get to run and jump with a collection of various characters, some from games you really, REALLY need to try (Like Shovel Knight and Guacamelee). The shifting colors that can give or take away needed platforms at a moment’s notice add to the frantic pace as you try to outwit the other players and reach the goal. But do not blame me when your buddy decides to use an item to swap yplaces with you, you really should have seen it coming you bastard don’t blame me for your screw ups—
I digress…
TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT WII-U EDITion
Yes, believe it or not, Tekken is on the Wii-U. And along with the DLC from the previous edition, you get a few more Nintendo themed costumes and play modes. Because nothing says “I will kill you until you die from it” like a giant Steve Fox dressed as Fox McCloud.
NINJA GAIDEN 3: RAZOR’S EDGE
So, funny story, when this game was released people were complaining about Nintendo not having mature rated games on their systems and were understandably worried, as this looked to be a straight port. The opposite however proved to be true; Razor’s Edge brought back many of the elements from past NG games that was removed from the original, plus removed certain scenes and actions that were controversial. And, amazingly enough, the violent content was INCREASED. (Seriously, did you ever think you would play a game where Kasumi of all kunoichi would rip a guy in two with her blade?) And the game is also tough as balls. Good luck with Stage 3 the first time around on Normal…
That will do it for this part. Next time, I will focus on 1st and 2nd party games.
