          sharpness.  the flow of warm crimson running across the back of her hand and seeping between fingers is the only thing she can really feel on that side of her body besides the dull ache.  jessica can’t remember for the life of her , or anyone else that might be in trouble at the time , if she is in any real danger with where the point of access was made by that slick silver blade.

          but now she’s out of breath , chest rising and falling like her shoulders , the rumbled pounding of her heart filling her ears.  there’s a ringing there , quiet and at the back of her mind , but the more she stays here - leaned against the old , crumbled wall - she can swear there are voices in the white noise.  where are you ?  who are you ?  & one she’d heard charlie say before in a dream . . .
