EKSENA: Sa Ilalim ng mga Kamay ni Ruby
I was outside. Walking. And I passed by Plaza Moriones and Tondo Church. I always see people living in the street and it always saddens me that someone has to live like that. But tonight it's different, it's more heartbreaking. Where will they stay in the storm? What are they gonna do? So curious about so many things, I sat down and casually asked one lady who's about in her forties about my concerns. She said, "Wala naman kaming matutuluyan, wala naman kaming magagawa. Bahala na ang Diyos samin." I was stumped. I stayed there for a little longer to chat as the breeze continues to grow stronger and colder. My jacket is wet and it's only getting colder and colder. I walked back home and realized how Filipinos have always held on to the truth of their belief to a Divine Being protecting them and looking after them at all times. Maybe this is why no matter how many storms come to us, we still manage to get through it sane because there's one powerful entity that we believe in. Maybe because of all the things the we're not having, faith is one thing that we have and we hold on to it, and it's a powerful thing. Hope and faith, these are two powerful things that we have. The hope that something better is bound to happen and the faith that God would make sure it does.
