Plant of the Day
Wednesday 2 February 2022
In the warmth of this glasshouse corridor the trailing stems of the South African succulent Crassothonna capensis (little pickles, ruby necklace) are flowering. This drought tolerant species is a member of the sunflower family (Asteraceae) having fragrant yellow flowers that are sometimes purple or white. The blooms are attractive to a wide variety of pollinators including butterflies, bees and other insects.
