Summary: The receptionist blinked, looking at him in confusion. She was frozen, hand halfway to her coffee. “Um- Excuse me?” She abandoned her coffee and folded her hands in front of her keyboard. “Who are you?”
“Louis Markus,” he told her, squeezing Martha’s hand firmly. “Father Markus at St. Cassian’s Catholic School. The students that were brought in last night. They’re mine.”
“Father,” the receptionist repeated, frowning. She quickly pulled up something on her computer. “Are- Are you the grandparent of one of the students? I don’t-”
“I’m their director,” he clarified. “A teacher at their school. They were under my care at the time of the accident. I have to see them-”
“Louis,” Martha said calmly. She tugged his arm back as she turned to the receptionist. “Hi, Krista, is it?” The receptionist reflexively covered her nametag. “I’m sorry my husband seems a bit frantic. He’s the teacher of those students. He was up all of last night, worried sick about them. If you could let us-”
“I’m sorry, nobody outside of immediate family is allowed to visit right now,” Krista said. She folded her hands again. “I wish I could do more.”
I haven't seen any ideas for this yet so here's my two cents :)
part two
Summary:
The choir doesn't make it in time. It's just too late... Karnak dies before he's able to bring Jane back to life... Here's their life afterwards...
"I'd gladly take my 17 years over nothing... It should be her.." Ocean said, taking a step forward. The rest of the choir joined quickly but it was too late.
Karnak began to jolt rapidly, causing the kids to flinch and band together. The robot mumbled as he died, "Be sure to Ride the Cyclone.."
The choir stared in disbelief and utter silence. No one dared to speak a word or even breathe.
"Why..." Jane mumbled as her voice wavered, a tear streaking down her cheek.
"I.. Umm..."
For once, Ocean was at a loss for words. She couldn't make out a coherent anything. She was just stuck in shock.
Mischa tried to place a hand on Jane's shoulder to comfort her but no words came out of his mouth. He swallowed back the pain at this new development. He then placed a hand on Noel's shoulder.
Noel looked over at the Ukrainian boy and took a shakey breath in.
"I can't believe this.."
He muttered under his breath and leaned a tad closer to Mischa.
Ricky glanced at Jane and took a step closer to her, placing a hand on her other shoulder.
"It's alright... This means we'll all get to stay together for a little longer now.."
He spoke softly, trying to keep the mood up a little.
"How could this be alright?!" Ocean snapped before pointing at a small door. It was besides Karnak.
"Door.. There's a door!" She exclaimed and looked at everyone," I'm sorry, but I think that could be the way out."
They looked at each other hesitantly.
"It could be a way of getting out of here.."
"I will go check it out, for safety.." Mischa spoke softly and let go of the two, making his way to the door.
Slowly, he opened the door and glanced around. He took a step out, leaving for a moment.
Ricky hugged Jane gently as she began to sob into his chest. He patted her back and everyone else tried to comfort her.
"You guys got to see this..." Mischa said after a few moments of being gone. The choir looked at each other before walking out the door and into.. Uranium?
Except, it was but it wasn't at all....
It was like the town that they knew and loved. However, it was grey scaled and silent. There was no body there either. They all looked around in bewilderment but stayed close to each other.
What was going on? Where were they actually?
They saw the fair and the crashed Cyclone. But also, there was a small dirt path from the crash site.
"Should we follow the path?" Constance said softly, keeping her hand intertwined with Ocean's.
"Yeah.. Yeah.. I think we should. I don't recognize it from Uranium." Ocean spoke softly and gave Constance's hand a squeeze. The rest of the choir agreed softly.
At the head of the group, it was Ocean and Constance. Ocean was still the "leader" and no one questioned it just yet. After them, it was Jane and Ricky. Ricky comforted her as she wiped the tears from her eyes. Jane had fallen silent. At the end of the group, it was Noel, and then Mischa. Noel was a step ahead of Mischa, as the Ukrainian tried to stay in the back to keep the others safe and in his view. But overall, they were still all very closely knit.
While walking down the small dirt path, they made it through a small path in the forest. But after a silent agreement, they continued forth. Eventually, the choir stumbled across a rather large looking house.
"I don't remember this from Uranium.." Ocean spoke softly and Constance nodded quickly.
"I don't think this existed in Uranium." Noel said, crossing his arms and looked along the large house.
"Someone knock on the door.." Ricky said softly after a beat of silence as they had halted on the porch. They looked amongst each other, but before anyone said anything, someone came out of the house.
It was an old man with a big smile.
"I've been waiting for you all to show up. You are late you know," the man chuckled softly and stepped aside. Ocean opened her mouth to say something but was quickly cut off by the man.
"Now, this house is yours. Do with it what you will, but please don't destroy it... I've left a notebook for you all with all the info you need," He smiled at the children and put a big floppy hat on and grabbed a bag, seemingly out of nowhere," Well then, I'm off!"
The man walked past the children, not giving them a moment to speak and just dissapeared off into the woods.
"What just happened..?"

look, I know you said ask about Six of Crows but…like…do you have any sickfic-related headcanons for Ride the Cyclone, cause I’ll take all of ‘em :)
OH MY GOD YESYESYES
sickfics are my most pleasured guilty pleasure i desperately need more about them in this fandom🙏🙏 (also nischa is my main rtc ship so there may be hints towards that oops)
-ocean is so annoying to take care of when she's sick she blatantly refuses to rest until she literally cannot keep going
-often times this results in constance trailing after her all but begging ocean to accept help
-noel is also kind of annoying but in a self pitying woe is me way also there's like a 50% chance that he will also refuse help simply because of his pride
-he will go from "fuck off i'm fine." to "i'm dying." in the span of two minutes
-he also cannot stand being alone when he's sick because he needs the distraction so he always has his mother or one of the members of the choir around
-he's also extremely emotional in contrast to being usually pretty apathetic, he will yell at you or just like. start crying. without warning so nobody actually wants to be around him
-mischa is the opposite
-he isolates himself from everyone so as to not be seen in a moment of weakness (talia is the one person he will talk to unless noel is around)
-he just falls off the grid all his social media followers are like ?? because he usually posts stuff every few hours
-ricky just stays home and goes online all day when he's sick
-he won't blatantly tell anyone he's sick but if they ask he won't deny it
-unless it's funny and ironic
-"you weren't at school yesterday, were you sick or something?" "no i was on the moon." "okay then..?"
-penny DISAPPEARS without a word
-she doesn't answer any texts, she just vanishes
-when she gets back she acts like nothing ever happened
-"dude where were you??" "what are you talking about? :)"
-constance is the only one who can be normal
-she stays home but she tells the choir she's not going to be at school so they (ocean) don't worry
-she actually takes care of herself like she should so she's usually back a day later
hi cyclone enjoyers. watchers. fanatics. i have a gift. curse. whatever.
tragedy chasers
“Oh,” Mischa says, drawing Noel’s gaze back to him. “Noel.”
“Yes,” Noel says, mostly because he has no idea how to respond but also because he’s a little frozen with the full force of Mischa’s stare focused on him. “That’s me.”
“You are… here,” says Mischa. He sounds a little awestruck, uncomprehending. It looks like he tries to shake the feeling off to return to his cool from before, but he doesn’t quite manage to wipe the astonished look off of his face. “For reals?”
Noel nods because he doesn’t think that he could come up with any words at this point in time. Mischa is still looking at him, that wondrous look in his eyes never quite going away.
(or, the choir have gone their separate ways after the accident, but when mischa invites them all to uranium for a concert he's putting on, they reunite once again. there are two problems with this, however—one: noel is in love with mischa bachinski, and two: he may or may not be getting haunted by a very ominous ghost. uh oh.)
this is a fic i've just posted centered around my favorite fucked up girl, noel gruber, post-cyclone accident. only the accident didn't happen. or did it? noel certainly doesn't know.
anyway it would mean a lot to me if anyone wanted to read it !! love you all lots and i shall leave you alone now <3
This fic has descriptions of death/dying, decapitation, gore
Fic is under the cut
There had been many theories about how she had been decapitated. She fell on the tracks as the cart rolled over her, launching her head to who knows where. A sharp object that fell from the ride sliced her neck.
There were even more theories about where her head had gone. The reasonable assumed it rolled off somewhere, or an animal ate it. Others— whose thoughts haunted her as she was lifted out of the warehouse— claimed it was mutilated. All of her ideas to what her head was were bashed in, bloody mushes with skull fragments sticking out like broken glass.
Confusing thoughts swirled in her head as she was lifted up. Why were the others crying? Where was she going? What was happening to Karnak?
The world went white. It slowly dimmed as she was lifted higher into the air.
"Her name is Penny Lamb. Born April 7th. Aries. The lucky nature."
That was all she heard as the warehouse faded behind her.
She woke up on the ground. A gash on her neck pricked blood like a leaky faucet. Bruises stung in her face. A heavy weight felt like it was lifted off her shoulders. Her hands immediately flew to her head. She had a face— an identity! Happy tears streamed across her face in waterfalls. Her pain seemed tuned out from the laughs taking over her.
"Penny? Penny!" Her mouth clamped shut as a boy with dark hair and glasses shook her. "Do you remember anything!?" She shook her head.
"Stop shaking me," she said, and he stopped. Taking a good look at his face, a sense of familiarity filled her.
"Ezra?" The name left her mouth without thinking. Ezra breathed out a sigh of relief.
"You almost died! The Rollercoaster went off track, and everyone crashed. Everyone's being hauled into ambulances." Penny looked around as sirens wailed. The euphoria had blocked off all the noise earlier. Sure enough, five teenagers were being loaded into the ambulances as panicked people rushed around.
Her heart sank for them. The doctors told her it was shock from the accident. Still, it felt more than shock. Longing, guilt, hurt, familiarity. Her mind felt like it remembered a time when they were closer... but nothing could come to mind...
After the death of her fellow choir members, Penny could feel eyes on her all the time. As the sole survivor of the accident, she was followed with whispers. Whispers of sympathy. Words like "tragedy," and "poor girl" followed in her wake.
There was one other word that followed her.
Lucky.
Lucky that the rest of the choir did not suffer in their injuries. Lucky the fair faced consequences of the beaten-down ride. Lucky Penny managed to survive.
The most tragic day of her life— one she could barely remember— was the day Penny Lamb became known as "The Luckiest Girl in Town"
