It had all begun as a joke. It was a jest, really. Somewhere along the line Betsy had teased Rachel that she was going to make her the most stereotypical British meal possible: beans and toast. In all fairness, Rachel had been the one to start it when she lovingly mocked Betsy over being so British that Britain was in her title, and Betsy had determined then that she would be lighthearted about the matter. Case and point: beans and toast.
The meal itself wasn’t hard to make, and Betsy was nearly done by the time that Rachel came stumbling into the kitchen. She looked adorable with her red hair mussed from sleep; it took everything in Betsy to stop herself from going to kiss her. Instead, she remained sentinel in front of the stove.
