firstly if you're sending me this i assume you read dope / gritty crunch, but plugging it anyway because it does reference that storyline and the fear of xwg / immobility. a theme that affects me deeply. i find myself pointing at this fic all the time bc it's like. well all my thoughts & feelings about Everything are in there, really. & they're inseparable from my horrible fetish because so am i ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ expressing that was like, a big deal. so it's an important story to me. but this is besides the point

anyway yes like... between mike's wife & that live bernice sketch, they have clearly gawked at at least one horrid sensationalist obesity documentary. and knowing their sordid tv tastes especially back in the day, it was probably also a 'feederism' documentary. the countless examples of casual fatphobia in their writing make me insane, but the direction they went in with mike's wife is SO sick & dark & extreme, it's not just thoughtless, it's a concept they find genuinely intriguing/ amusing/ disturbing. and that fascination doesn't come from nowhere!!

the idea of reece looking at steve and having Thoughts while they're writing it goddddhdhh 🥴 sniping at him like "i'll do this to you one day" or "i won't let it get that far, the minute you're too fat for theatre seats* [or some other milestone] i'm having you put down." and he's jokinggg, but there's part of him that genuinely thinks WHAT IF. someday. the thought scares & disgusts him. and turns him on. which scares him even more, in a beautiful cycle of fear & arousal 🥰

*getting too wide for cinema/theatre seats is a real 🫠 for me. like filling up the space and spilling over the arms. steve eating his bag of minstrels while crammed into the seat, reece next to him complaining about getting squished. uuughhgh

as for steve, i LOOVEE the idea of him fantasising about it. feeling the temptation to give in to hedonism and get more sedentary, eat & drink everything he wants, get enormous. he knows that potential is inside him, and maybe one day it'll come out. he'd enjoy talking about it just to make reece uncomfortable, even more once he figures out that reece is turned on by it. in the fantasy reece is running around doing everything for steve & keeping him comfortable & full at all times 😌💞
