1. What’s the worst role playing experience you’ve had?

Probably the worst one that most immediately comes to mind was back in the days when I roleplayed with a sort of exclusive, close-knit group for a fandom that will be left unnamed. We had storylines that went on for 2-3 years, very closely interwoven with each other. We attempted a rather ballsy storyline that involved one character performing a pretty heinous act on another character. When it was plotted out there were no bones from anyone about how awful this act was and that it would be seen for what it was. Well, when the character that had done the awful thing started to face the expected consequences for their actions and their mun felt it was unfair they weren’t immediately forgiven, they started to back-peddle and act as if we (my friend and I in particular) had coerced them into doing this. I pulled up the actual receipts of our documented skype conversations proving that what we were planning to do was spelled out, all parties were amenable, and even the several times we had asked “you sure this is okay? you sure this is what you want to do? we really don’t have to do this if you’re unsure” “lol of course I’m sure you guyz”. Didn’t matter. The person still denied they agreed to it (apparently actual screencaps of things they actually said wasn’t enough to prove they had said it) and then they and the rest of this posse unfollowed and blocked us. That was it, the end of a 3 yr group friendship. Our storyline was thusly fucked and we had to start a lot of things over. This is why I don’t do exclusive, clique-y RP groups anymore; they are high school level bullshit drama breeding grounds.

2. What would cause you to leave a fandom?

I’ve left many fandoms for various reasons and I don’t actively participate in most of them anymore. A lot of that has to do with the shipwars that pop up, the gatekeeping, the general drama that makes it impossible to just enjoy something with people. Tolkien fandom is the only one I’ve felt able to still contribute to without much incident, the rest, nah. Not really, beyond my occasional contribution of RP or fanfic. 

4. What are some things you are tired of seeing in the RPing community?

I feel like if I’m too specific people will feel as if I’m calling them out, but I don’t mean to. This isn’t meant to be a callout for anyone, just general ranting. But I guess I feel like sometimes there’s a lot more emphasis on how ‘pretty’ things are, via formatting or graphic/theme design, etc than a focus on writing something good. That’s not to say people who are good at theme design and formatting can’t write- far from it, and kudos to you if you can do both! I CERTAINLY CAN’T. But I do feel like there’s a certain favoritism for the pretty stuff and not as much for the quality of writing. I hope that makes sense. Might just be my own skewed perception of things. 

7. Things that you will not tolerate?

when you talk to both admins about how youre being ignored and they both tell you that sucks and that its my problem for not reaching out to people (which ive done many times) but do nothing about it.
