Tracking #International Tiara Day Event 2026
I’ve been posting every International Tiara Day on my YouTube channel since 2022 but have never done something on tumblr so I’d love to do a fun challenge/event for it this year! There’s no pressure of course—you can only do one or a couple days or none of them, just have fun and everyone is welcome to participate!
DAY ONE — 20 May 2026: All-time favourite tiara (Any type of edit for the tiara you look forward to seeing the most when you hear the words banquet, gala, nobel, etc. You can include the history of the tiara as well but that’s optional.) DAY TWO — 21 May 2026: Favourite tiara debut (Favourite first tiara appearance of all time for blood and/or married-in royals. You can include their clothing and other accessories as well.) DAY THREE — 22 May 2026: Your perfect wedding day tiara (What tiara would you like to wear on your wedding day? You can choose any tiara from any royal or aristo family or from any media. You can include what clothing and other accessories you’d like to wear too.) DAY FOUR — 23 May 2026: Favourite tiara(s) in film/television (From Disney to Period Drama, share your favourite tiara(s)! You can include the character’s clothing and other accessories as well if you’d like.) DAY FIVE — 24 May 2026 (International Tiara Day): Free day (Whatever you want to do to celebrate tiaras! A poem, collage, gif set, video, so long as it features a tiara/tiaras.)

This was not inspired by any specific individual or post and I don't say this to be lofty and judgemental because I am part of it too. I also don't have any answers, this is just a stream of consciousness. But I do worry about the way we talk about royal children sometimes. As much as I don't like him as a person, I believe Prince Harry has talked about how being put in the box as the naughty one from childhood - even if well intentioned and done affectionately - impacted his sense of identity and made him out to be a kind of caricature of himself which he found difficult to escape from as he grew up. And it feels like you can kind of already see the Wales kids being slotted into their “archetypes” - George is the heir so he is just like his dad, Charlotte's the only girl so she's bossy and puts the boys in their place, Louis is the youngest and the second son so he's the unpredictable joker - and maybe those things are an accurate representation of their personalities. But it just worries me to see kids being put in boxes at such a young age.
Princess Margaret's grandson Samuel Chatto is engaged, but it's his fiancee Eleanor who is our episode inspiration this week. She made history when she was invited to join the royal family's Christmas walk, breaking the previous tradition that only fiancees and spouses could join. So this week @duchessofostergotlands and @princesscatherinemiddleton looking at how royal families handle the awkward dating phase - from the couples who keep it top secret to those who are treated as royal in all but name. 6 more years and I can retire from the Navy.
Anyway I no, I don't feel any different. But, while less of a birthday gift and more of a hobby/skill I wanted to re-visit/learn after deployment, I bought a bass.
We are building new neural pathways in this household.
