Okay, so what are you suggesting is to compromise central idea and atmosphere of the story for the sake of, quite literally, pandering, to furries? That might be the worst thing I have heard in my fucking life. God.

“Make it worse”? The hell? Idea is absurd, so aesthetic should be absurd. I mean. Jesus, why do I even have to say something like this.Good or great comics featuring anthropomorphic animals make sure to use the animals to add meaning and interesting aesthetic to  the comic - be it Maus, Blacksad or even Lackadaisy - e.g though Lackadaisy is cutesy, there obviously is intention of drawing attention to dissonance between cutesy cartoony kitten characters, and the fact that it’s a comic about prohibition era gangsters drawn in sepia tones - which in itself mirrors how the comic itself shifts tone between comedy and noir on a regular basis.

Similarly, Snagglepuss has a relatively surreal story, so artist seems to go for a surreal aesthetic, which is an artistic choice they have right to make.

For the record, I’m not saying that particular panel in question was good, as such, it definitely could’ve been executed better (i.e. it was weird to the point of being distracting) - I just think the advice of making it look more appealing is completely misguided, since ‘aesthetically pleasing’ was not what artist was trying to achieve in the first place.A food critic wouldn’t criticize a salad by saying “I prefer chicken”, they’d criticize it as a goddamn salad. Similarly, trying to criticize a panel that tries to be weird/freaky by saying it should’ve been cute is asinine.
