You sigh as you wait for another show yet to start. At first confused you that Odin let a script being made awhile ago based on how Loki died.
The first times it was playing, you couldn't get yourself to watch it, to see the most important person in you life die over and over again. Thor has told you everything that happened and that was enough for you to have you hysterically crying for hours on end.
One day, a maiden came to your chambers, actually yours and Loki’s, and told you that the All-father would like you to join him by one of the shows, saying something like you shouldn't be this much alone all the time and laying in your bed since it won’t help you heal any faster.
Now it has been like the 7th time you are watching the theater show and are more than bored to say the least. You can play the whole thing in your head at this point.
One of the maidens hands you a small bowl with your favorite fruits in it which is weird because you didn’t expect Odin to know you this well.
Maybe it was just a coincidence, you think as you thanked her, gladly taking the bowl from her, deciding to occupy yourself by throwing grapes in the air and trying to catch them with your mouth.
You made it a few times, cheering quietly to yourself, not noticing that Odin is watching you from time to time with an occasional smile on his face.
As almost all the grapes are gone, or had fallen on the ground by your attempts to catch them, you focus to watch end of the show.
"Sorry about that time I turned you into a frog." said the Asgardian that plays Loki and you had to suppress a giggle that almost slips past your lips.
"It was a wonderful joke." Not Thor laughs sadly.
"It was indeed hilarious." Odin chuckles as well and you actually have to agree with him for once.
Loki told you that specific story when you couldn't fall back asleep one night after a nightmare and instead of calming you down, it made you laugh for ten more minutes before Loki managed to make you sleep again.
Thinking of it again makes your chest feel tight as tears are about to well up in your eyes but you took a shaky breath and force yourself to push them back, not wanting to cry in front all the people around.
Suddenly the Asgardians start to clap around you and you realize that the show reached its end. Have you zoned out so bad?
Odin stood up from his sofa, clapping as well. "Bravo! Bravo! Well done. Bravo."
"Father." Your head snaps to the other side when you hear the familiar voice. Uncle Thor is back!
Odin's smile faltered as he saw Thor and lowers his head a bit to mutter under his breath. "Oh shit."
"Thor!" You jump up and rush over to hug him tightly. "Missed you so much. Did you get something for me?"
Thor smiles and pats your head gently, hugging you back with one arm. "Of course I did." He responds as he hands you a new stuffed animal he got from Midgard on his way back from his journey. "There you go, tiny one."
"Thank you, Uncle Thor." You whisper at him, gripping the plushie close as these kind of presents keep reminding you of where you are from.
"Uh, my son, Thor, has returned! Greetings my boy." Odin smiles again and Thor chuckles with you still attached to him, having missed him far too much to just let go of him again.
"It's an interesting play. What's it called?" Thor asks, rubbing your back as he knows that what’s gonna be revealed to you any second might break your heart.
"The Tragedy of Loki of Asgard. The people and his wife wanted to commemorate him." Odin answered and you look up at Thor, shaking your head quickly. You had nothing to do with that!
Thor kisses the top of your head, sending you back to your previous seat. "Ah, indeed they should. I like the statue. A lot better looking than he was when he was alive, though."
You would have to disagree with that but you keep your mouth shut about it, glancing down at the new stuffie in your hands and start to entertain yourself with it instead while Thor and Odin are talking.
At one point Thor's hammer whips past you and back into his hand, snapping you out of your little conversation you had with your new fluffy friend.
"Yes, besides I've been rather busy myself." Odin states, getting slightly nervous.
"Watching theater." Thor retorts bluntly.
"Well, board meetings, and security council meetings..." The all father rambles on.
"You're really gonna make me do it?"
"Do what?"
Thor throws his hammer away with more force, walking right behind his father and grabs him by his shoulders. "You know that nothing will stop Mjolnir as it returns to my hand. Not even your face."
You gasp, placing your hand over your mouth when Thor grabs the back of Odin‘s neck to in fact summon back Mjolnir.
"You've gone quite mad. You'll be executed for this." Odin stammers, squirming under Thor‘s grasp.
"Then I'll see you on the other side," Thor leans in a bit closer to whisper. "Brother."
As Mjolnir comes closer with unbelievable speed he shouts. "All right, I yield!"
You can’t believe what actually happened right now and who's standing right in front of you and whole Asgard, not quite believing your own eyes.
Loki. Your husband. Your caregiver.
The man who you thought died saving his brother, is standing right there. You don’t know if whether you should be happy, sad, angry, or all three at the moment as your brain tries to comprehend this situation.
He is alive, and that makes you want to jump in his arms and kiss him all over until you have no air to breathe, but he also lied and tricked you into thinking he died, again, which makes you want to slap and scream at him until your throat is raw.
You just sit there, not moving a muscle, still thinking that your mind may play tricks on you because of how much you love and missed him dearly.
Your eyes meet eventually and the tears are already coming back up in your eyes before you can stop them again as he gives you a small smile. "Hello, little one..."
"Behold! Thor...Odinson." Skurge comes out of the crowd panting heavily and Loki snaps his fingers turning to face him.
"You had one job. Just the one." He snaps at him and turns back to his brother who is clearly not in the mood for his games anymore.
"Where's Odin?"
"You just couldn't stay away, could you?" Loki smiles at him. "Everything was fine without you-"
"Fine?" You asks outrageous and stand up, walking over to him. "I thought you died! I thought I would never see you again! I mourned for you." Your voice cracked a bit. "I cried for weeks while you were enjoying your duty as king right next to my chambers."
Loki now wishes he could travel back in time to redo his old decisions, seeing how much he actually hurt you with his desire of ruling Asgard.
He couldn't even get a word out as you suddenly slap him across the face, making the Asgardians around you gasp in shock. "I deserved that."
A lot more than that. Is what you want to say but all that comes out is a sob, your big and little headspace fighting to get the lead. You want to be big right now, to confront him and yell at him, yet your little side just wants to get you out of the situation and comfort you.
"You..." Hot, fat tears are flowing down your cheeks, not being able to get yourself to say anything at the moment with how hurt you are.
You’re about to walk past him and over to Thor as Loki places his hand on your shoulder but you just shrug him off. "Don't. P‘ease..."
He reluctantly pulls his arm back to his side, nodding sadly as he respects your wish, watching how his brother picks you up bridal-style and starts walking with you towards the palace.
Some time later of you crying in Thor's arms, you start to calm down, only sniffling and hiccuping a little as you wipe your cheeks for what feels like the hundredth time.
You lift your head and notice that his tunic is visibly soaked with your tears but Thor couldn’t care less about that right now. "Are you feeling better?"
You just shrug in response. All the emotions you are feeling have you confused more than you would like to admit and it doesn’t help that you also might have skipped your nap earlier and are worn out right now, physically just as much as mentally.
"You have to know, I'm just as frustrated as you are, little one, but I also know that Loki would never do anything to intentionally hurt you. He...I guess he just wanted to know how it could have been as a King." Thor explains and you frown a little, knowing how Loki got treated in the past and you can understand why he is how he is.
Misunderstood. Betrayed. Alone.
Like you felt back on earth before Loki came and saved you from your misery, taking you to Asgard and healing you so many ways.
"He loves you, he really does. I've never seen him so happy like he is with you. You changed him, yet he will always be the God of Mischief and more than often act out before thinking about the consequences."
"It jus‘ hurts..." You mumble, playing with one of Thor's hands.
"I can imagine." He hugs you more firmly. "It will fade away when you're ready for it."
You then rub your tired eyes as you let out a yawn, making Thor chuckle.
"Would you like to rest a little?" He asks and you nod in response, holding onto him as he stands up from the edge of your bed to set you down comfortably, waiting for you to snuggle into the sheets and grabs your hand and kisses the back of it. "I'll come check on you later."
Then he leaves, closing your chamber doors quietly and turns around to see Loki leaned against the wall opposite him after waiting the whole time.
Thor grabs him by the nape of his neck and drags him around a corner, pushing him against the wall.
"What were you thinking!?" He snaps at him. "You are going to make this up to her. I don't care what or how you do it, and I dare you to hurt her feelings like that ever again." The blonde grit outs, his jaw clenched.
Loki could only nod in response, adjusting his clothes after Thor lets go of him and watches him storm off, having to calm himself.
He sighs deeply, staring at your chamber doors for a moment, contemplating his next steps as he eventually slowly pushes one door open, peering inside to see you already asleep, cuddling your plushie close.
He simply watches you for a while, a sight he has been depriving himself of to not blow up his cover as the all father and especially don’t creep you out on accident.
A fool. He’s such a damn fool for what he did. He would even accept it if you never forgive him for his actions or don’t want to speak to him ever again, he understands if you won’t but he still has hope and will do everything he can to fix.
After a well deserved nap, your eyelids start to flutter open, stretching your arms above your head with a sleepy grunt and shield your eyes from the afternoon rays of the sun.
Your nose then picks up the delicious smell of cooked meat and smashed potatoes, turning your head to see a tray placed on your nightstand, a small smile making its way on your face as you see the small plate with cookies for dessert and a goblet of what you assume must be some kind of juice.
As you sit up against the headboard you see there’s a card as well, grabbing it from the tray and open it hesitantly, gasping as a illusion from a green butterfly flies up, fluttering around your head before landing on the tip of your nose.
You giggle as you cross your eyes to focus on it, a sudden sneeze escaping you that makes the butterfly dissolve into tiny sparks.
"Bless you." A voice from the door startles you but you relax once you see that it’s just Loki, and then remember that you’re still mad at him, looking back at the tray with a glare as you realize that it’s from him. "There’s everything you like. Nobody knows you better than I do. I even managed to snatch the cookies fresh from the baker, the ones with the melted chocolate inside, they’re still warm as well."
You don’t answer him, acting as if he wasn’t there, giving him some of his own medicine since he didn’t even find it necessary to tell you he’s very much alive and just uses his seidr to rule Asgard as Odin, you wouldn’t have told anybody and he knows that.
"I know you probably don’t care right now of what I have to say, but I still want to try it." He starts, walking over to sit on the edge of the bed next to your legs, not touching your and respects your space until you’re ready to let him close again. "I apologize for…for my stupidity, for lying and betraying you. I risked you trust me and I don’t know if you can ever forgive but know that I’ll wait, however long you need…little one."
A single tear slips down your cheek at the nickname, quickly wiping it away as you reluctantly meet his eyes to acknowledge his presence.
"You mean, an’ stupid, an‘ bad at theater scripts." You blurt out, playing with the ear of your plushie.
"I saw you laughing at some parts." He retorts with a smirk. "And you’re right, I was really stupid and mean to you. I swear I will never, and I mean never, do anything to hurt you like that again. I was so blinded by my desperation for power that i couldn’t see how bad you were actually hurting from my decisions. I regret what I did, truly."
You hang onto every word he says, pursing your lips as you refrain from reaching for him, not knowing if you should or even can forgive him this fast but yet you missed him so much that it’s getting harder each second, now even more that he apologizes honestly.
"I love you dearly, you’re the only good thing in my life and yet I still managed to mess that up…" He mutters, glancing down at his wedding ring. "I am deeply sorry, little one."
You can’t handle being this close yet so far from each other and scramble closer to wrap your arms around his neck, letting him wrap his own around body and pull you to lay back on the mattress with a relieved sigh from both of you.
The sobs start racking through your body as you clung onto his tunic, inhaling his familiar scent that comforts you in seconds, breathing out shakily while Loki embraces you tightly and presses a light kiss to the top of your head.
"I’ll do everything to reward you trust again…no matter how long it might take. You’re worth fighting for." He whispers against your hair.
