Hi I'm Faye Nolan, and this is my LAST MEAL
(mythical kitchen celebrity interview in my fame dr)
spicy tuna crispy rice | edamame with lemon and flaky salt | Bruschetta with extra balsamic reduction | an amaretto sour
“I could easily eat 20 of the spicy tuna…i've done it before at a party, zero regrets.”
“The edamame is from this tapas place by my dad's house back in Virginia. They char the outside just a little bit before squeezing the lemon on & adding the flaky salt - it's seriously the best I've had.”
“Okay I'm one of those people who love tomato-flavored things: Pizza, pasta sauce, hell I understand the Canadians with their obsession with ketchup-flavored Lays. But when it comes to actual tomatoes I can't stand them…except for rare exceptions like bruschetta.”
“You will always catch me with an amaretto sour if a bar I'm at has it. It's so dangerous and it is most certainly to blame for a lot of nights I can't remember in college, but I can't seem to quit her.”
My In-n-Out Order: double-double animal-style with extra pickle & spread, light well animal-style fries with chopped chilis & extra spread, & a Diet Coke | small Caesar Salad
“Okay the salad is mainly to make myself feel better about this whole ordeal. Balance, ya know? I really appreciate the presentation on this, and the combo of classic croutons and crunchy breadcrumbs.”
“This has been my In-n-Out order for nearly 20 years. Every person I've had try my order have now stolen it for themselves. It's weird how a fast food joint can be the home to so many memories, but genuinely it's lowkey been at the centerpiece of my life. I had my first date at like 12 an In-n-Out. The location on Sunset & Orange was my go-to spot like after a premiere 'cause it was right by the TCL or El Capitan, but after a bit we had to change it because paparazzi and fans caught on.”
General Tso's Chicken with plain lo mein and green beans from [insert real-life favorite restaurant from my hometown lol] & a Dr. Pepper
“This place is genuinely a mandatory stop for me anytime I visit Virginia. Either I go in-person or we order takeout and I have gotten the same exact damn thing since I was like 9. I did the order copying this time ‘cause this was my mom’s order and it's just so good. These green beans convinced me that vegetables are actually good, like genuinely cured the mandatory veggie aversion every kid has. I can't believe you got the recipe for this, dude, this is awesome. Oh, yeah, the Dr. Pepper is essential. The crispier the better, honestly.”
Steak Frites from Le Relais de l'Entrecôte in Paris | Broccoli from Dimmi Dimmi Italian in Chicago | Texas Roadhouse rolls
“I know that this place is famous and some people call it overhyped, but I can say with certainty that this is the best steak frites I've ever had in my life. Like the sauce they have is otherworldly. Sure, you feel like Violet Beauregarde after a meal there, but then you can just walk it off along the Seine.”
“Okay I was just recently in Chicago shooting a film and I tried this one place in Lincoln Park I think it was. Amazing Italian, it's on my list of must-go-every-single-time places. The broccoli was hands-down the standout. It was charred perfectly with this like sweet but zingy sauce…I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. It was just really, really good.”
“I mainly asked for these rolls because I know they were gonna be amazing at soaking up everything else we have going on here, but also I thought it would be really good to like make a little sandwich with the steak.”
Auntie Anne's cinnamon sugar pretzel bites, paired with the icing from pillsbury cinnamon rolls | Crème brûlée with Strawberries | a Funfetti cupcake
“Okay this first pairing came to me in a dream, I can't lie. Whenever I was younger and malls were a much cooler thing to go to, I needed to get my mandatory pretzel bites. I don't remember if they ever offered a dipping sauce, but I've always been obsessed with the icing from those cheap ass cinnamon roll tubes from the grocery store. And when I say obsessed, I mean licking that little container, and the plan after we baked and iced the cinnamon rolls for any icing that slid to the bottom, clean. So…I feel like this pairing would 100% work.”
“I love anything custard. I remember going to Paris for the first time when I was like 11, I think, for press for Peter Pan. I had never been, and at that point the most French thing I had ever had was like a Pillsbury crescent roll. After a long day of whatever they had us doing, we went to this restaurant and the other Darling kids & I had absolutely no idea what anything was but we kinda just picked at whatever was placed in front of us. But then dessert came, and I distinctly remember Jason Isaacs pushing this little pot of crème brûlée in front of me and telling me to try it. And from that point on, if I ever see crème brûlée on the menu anywhere I'm eating I have to get it.
“This is just showing how childish I really am on the inside. Sometimes when I go to the store I will get a box mix of Funfetti with whatever colored icing they have that day and make myself a little mini Funfetti cake. It's just so nostalgic, I'm pretty sure the majority of my childhood birthday cakes were Funfetti. It's so sugary it makes you feel like your teeth are gonna fall out, but that's the best part of it I think.”
