RIP Ron Smith, one of British Comics greatest unsung Art stars. He produced a prodigious amount of work for @insta2000ad and his work on Judge Dredd gelped define many of the early epic stories. Ron was a very pragmatic artist of the wartime generation ( he served in the RAF ) and he turned his energy and vigour to any and every job he drew. Ron was often utilised by editors as a 'stand in' artist when others fell behind with their deadlines, so he often had less time than other artists to draw his work and deliver it, and yet his art ALWAYS looked incredible. Thank you for your kindness Ron, and the many guinesses we shared together in Guildford. His 'Blood of Satanus' Judge Dredd story was one of my all time favourites. He styled it on Alien he told me. We have lost a huge talent, an incredible raconteur, and a beautiful man.
