OOOO im intrigued by merthur bedsharband q in the vents? 👀 may we hear more?
‘Merthur bed share’ is pretty self-explanatory - they end up sharing a bed because of REASONS and then AGAIN and then they get kind of USED TO IT and is this getting weird yet? 🤣 I’ve got about 4k written but there are some key scenes in the middle that I’ve been struggling with so idk when this’ll surface as a completed story. A snippet:
“There’s not even a pallet,” he whispers. It’s a stone floor. They’ve had a hard week’s ride and now he’s thinking longingly of all those luxurious nights on the soft, warm, forest dirt.
He looks at Arthur, and pours everything he has into a soulful look. It’s not his usual plan of attack, and he’s hoping the surprise will help it along. Arthur bends easily enough for the damsel in distress of the week, so he’s definitely susceptible, and at this point Merlin will give it a go if only to save his hip bones. He doesn’t have enough padding for stone floors.
“I’m sorry Merlin. But we both have to stay in here, and I can’t challenge Lord Bayron for a matter such as this. The situation is too delicate. You wouldn’t understand; it’s about diplomacy.”
His temper flares. Damn Arthur Pendragon to hell. Although not really. If he ended up there, Merlin would only have to go along and haul him out again, so better to save everyone the bother and cancel that. Damn Arthur Pendragon to sleep on a pile of rags. Actually… that’s not a bad idea.
“Fine,” he acquiesces. “I’ll take the bed, and you can have the floor.”
‘Q in the vents’ is a 00Q story where they team up in an inter-departmental training exercise and there are twisty spy shenanigans and Bond boosting Q up to crawl through the vents and competent!Q which is my absolute fave portrayal of him. I’ve got about 3.5k of this but again, missing some middle scenes (what can I say, I love beginnings and endings). I’ve not looked at this in ages, actually, I really should try picking it up again.
Bond looks suspiciously at his mug, but sips politely. “This is the first MI6 contest I’ve ever started with a cup of earl grey.”
And a slightly more substantial snippet:
The element of surprise works. He slams 001’s wrist and the gun drops and clatters away. 001 recovers quickly, but has barely got his hands on Q before he slumps, and Q staggers under his weight. He lets him carefully slide down to the floor. Bond grins at him, cocking the other agent’s gun.
“No palmprint recognition for the tranq guns? I’ll have to be more careful.”
“001 down, 008 down,” Q mutters, after turning 008 over to make sure it really was him. He and 002 look remarkably similar from the back. “And I took out 004 in the vent.”
“Seems your little idea wasn’t so original.”
“How did you take her out?”
He shrugs, not quite ready to reveal to the agent with the keenest predilection for gadgets the existence of a pen that emits a sharp, targeted pulse of sleeping gas. “There wasn’t enough space for her famous roundhouse kick.”
