I think I did say before that I needed liam and sam to have their characters romance each other in campaign 3 BUT I would also be really interested in a sam's and travis' characters romance. Now that travis did romance ... I mean nott/veth and fjord's relationship is golden and scanlan and Grog's relationship was cute too so I would be interested in seeing them playing at romance.

It's implied in a few times in DAO that, if everything hadn't gone wrong in the start of the game, our boy Cousland might have ended up marrying Delilah Howe. Do you think that might have been a happy relationship if everything had gone as planned?
I mean, itād sort of depend on if Cousland wanted it to be happy.
Unlike the other nobles, Bryce and Eleanor is willing to let their children choose whoever they wish to marry. I believe Howe mentions this during that exact conversation.
Itās how Fergus ends up with Oriana, an Antivan woman from a relatively rich trading family. Instead of the daughter of some local bann.
Politically itād be a Good alliance for the Howes to marry into the Couslands, while Iām sure Bryce would be content having his good friend as an in-law. StillĀ āWardenā Cousland would never have been pushed into a marriage he didnāt want to fulfill as happy.
Rather it was Delilahās father, Rendon, who was pushing her to marry Cousland and as far as her being happy with the match? It would, like always, depend on Cousland. Delilah was after all unhappy with the idea of marrying a stuck up teyrnās boy.
So if Cousland was really fatherās little brat and wanted to marry Delilah, yeah it might not a happy marriage that went through (at Rendonās demand of his daughter) and they would both probably end up miserable. If Cousland wasnāt a brat and still pushed for marriage, Delilah might be offended, hate it at the start, and then eventually realize she had misjudged. So not terrible, but not the best either.
OR Cousland could do his best to court her and leave it to Delilah, which would probably be the best outcome, if Delilah agrees of course.
A little bit of what some people are already discussing, and just some really off kilter stuff that may or may not have been touched on. Spoilers ahoy!
Okay so get this, what if the reasons for Solas being race gated to the F!elf aren't purely revolving personal preference (namely elf babies, traumatising experiences with human etc etc). Not saying they may not play a role but what big plot device has been set up as perhaps an "elves only" clubhouse?
The Eluvians.
Now we haven't seen how the Eluvian network would effect Qunari or dwarves, but I think we can assume it's similar to humans. TheseĀ Arlathanian artifacts would surely be of interest to ProfessorĀ Solas, who knows what mysteries lie in wait to be unravalled. But in order to study these artifacts, one would have to spend a lot of time within them, hence they're going to a place where other races can't follow. And given Solas has been perfectly content to spend his life in solitary until the Inquisition, he strikes me as the type of personal who would take the opportunity to explore the Eluvian's versus spending the rest of his life with the PC who he's only gotten to know recently.Ā
As far as sexuality goes (nothing stopping a Male Lavellan from following in toe) that's more personal preference I suppose. I dunno, I just don't buy into "the female is a potential baby factory" explanation. I don't think they'd be that callously sexist. Or maybe they're setting up another OGB gambit, who knows.
One the bright side, I guess I know what playthrough I'll be doing first now. Provided I don't stuff it up royally of course.
on one hand I am sad for the ppl who wanted to romance Varric otoh one less person in contention means I'm more likely to get my own wanted final 2 on the other OTHER hand this really doesn't confirm anything for me because I never once believed Varric was legitimately in contention anyway despite all the fan interest, he was always firmly in my "nope" column bc he had too many strikes against him (history of firm disinterest in romancing a PC, the Bianca shit from the comics, voldy's well-known dwarf bias, etc) so this announcement really doesn't change anything for me in terms of speculation and guesstimating, I have been operating from the belief that it would come down to any 2 of Solas Viv and Blackwall ever since Josie was confirmed and I am still desperately worried for Viv even though she "should" be one just bc of simple arithmetic and the fact that LIs are usually young and beautiful esp. female LIs for one we saw how little supposedly simple arithmetic mattered in me3 with how lopsided the LIs were b/w manshep and femshep and for another, people will resort to all kinds of nonsense that makes no logical sense or contradicts established precedent in order to deny a black woman love and companionship. and I still have that "some ppl are too busy for romance" or w/e comment someone made stuck in my head. I rly wouldn't put it past them to pull that Viv don't need no man(or woman) garbage tbqh even above their well documented aversion to having older men as LIs and that's why as much as I like Blackwall I'm side eyeing the shit out of ppl hoping it's him and solas
As far as the remaining to spots for romantic subplots in Dragon age Inquisition...
Half my money's on Vivienne easy, since it'd make the most sense to have equal numbers of ladies and fellas available.
But asking me to choose between Blackwall, Solas and Varric? Bioware you're playing cruel games with my heart. (further musings below)
I'd love Varric because he's Varric, and in another way I don't want to romance him because he's Varric, and there's Bianca to consider. Andraste's flaming knickers, imagine if we got to meet Bianca, she'd look so wonderful in the Frostbite engine (i'd laugh my ass off if she was the 'flirt' option outside of the companions, could you imagine how that conversation go down?). And it's that one arc we're all very curious about, and with everything else going on for poor Varric, he deserves a little Bianca lovin'.
Solas I was a little unsure of the character design at first and didn't like the change from concept art, but he's grown on me a lot. After learning more about him, he reminds me bit of the quieter/bookish kinda mages like Sketch and Finn from the DLCs and I love those sorts of characters the most. Then they throw out his voice actor isĀ Gareth David LlyodĀ and... that's just unfair you know. So his prayer circle is on the top of my attendance list.
Then there's Blackwall, and by the Maker he's a beautiful specimen, And I entirely blame Ā MomochannersĀ for all her ridiculously wonderful artworkĀ (for pity's sake, if you haven't gone and seen her artwork and you want to ride the DA:I hype train, it's a necessary pre-requisite), His lovely character design and bits and pieces we've heard about him and wild imagining I have of what I think we'll potentially learn about him makes Blackwall an A+ character that i look forward to getting to know.
Well, place your bets and join your prayer circles because it's a matter of time until they're announced, I'll probably be a little sad one way or another, but to those that aren't given romantic subplots, well, that's what fanfiction's for =D And I'll be happy to get to know them as characters regardless of how things turn out.

Looking at the picture with all the companions and important NPCs of the inquisition as I do this, which is also my new wallpaper because, hell YEAH
Speculations under the cut:
Since it is confirmed that characters will have set sexualities again:
For male romances:
Cullen (confirmed romance): straight
Solas: bi
Moustache dude that is probably named Dorian: Gay
Super bummed that even my speculations can't see Ser Bara as a romance when I try to look at this objectively, despite wanting to romance the taint out of him already and, agh, just look at that bearded hunk. So sad.
For female romances:
Cassandra (confirmed romance): straight
Sera: bi
Vivienne or Scribe girl (leaning towards scribe girl more): Gay. Now, I lean towards Scribe girl more because that would make one of the female romances to be NPCs rather than companions as well, making it more equal between the genders. Other than that it could be Vivienne for all we know.
That's my speculation while trying to be as logical as possible and without putting my preferences first. Pretty sure I heard somewhere that there would be 6 romances in total, but hey, if I'm wrong and we get more, then even better! With a game as big as DA:I, it wouldn't be that far fetched. Now...
Dream romances: Ser Bara. That's it. Yep. Been smitten since the first concept art of him, hahah. Okay, and I guess I'd like being able to romance Cullen with both genders, but I don't really see it happening?
Extra thoughts:
My dream is that some day Bioware will surprise us by making the manliest looking guy alive an exclusively gay romance, thus slapping a bunch of stereotypes right in their freaking face. I think about this a lot. That would be a great day.
Unfortunately, so far, despite the characters all being great and nothing sort of cool, they do fall into stereotype territory often. Like others have pointed out, the flirty rogues with shifty pasts tend to be bi, and the only reason this wasn't more apparent in DA2 was because of the characters being playersexual.
Of course, my speculations could be off, but until Bioware releases that information (please let it be soon x_x), speculation is all we have. Who do you think is going to be a romance, and with what type of inquisitor?
