Riley never got to experience the feeling of growing up in a normal familial setting. Their mother had them at the age of sixteen and simply did not have the funds or ability to raise them. Their biological father was listed as โunknownโ. Fortunately for them, their mother had an older half-sister that had expressed interest in adopting them at birth.ย
Despite being raised as one of their own children, Rileyโs aunt and uncle never hid the fact that they were adopted. They claimed that it was so that Riley never wondered why they didnโt โquite fit inโ with their adopted siblings. In truth, this made them feel more alienated. Their aunt bought them their first camera for their fourteenth birthday and from then on, they were hooked. All of their free time was spent on taking pictures. They could be landscape photography of the Brooklyn atmosphere, or silly photoshoots they put together of their friends.ย
When they finally got a part time job at the age of sixteen, they began saving their money to buy a professional grade camera. They knew from a young age that they would be doing this for the rest of their life. So much so that at the age of seventeen, they dropped out of high school to pursue photography full-time. While their aunt and uncle vehemently disagreed with their decision, they supported them until they could get on their feet.ย
It took around 12-18 months for them to build up enough clientele to do photography full-time, but it was so beyond worth the struggle.
At the age of twenty, they met a girl that they fell head-over-heels in love with. A person that became their muse and their everything. She convinced Riley to move with her to a small Rhode Island town, and Riley never even questioned it.ย
They were happy together for a year or two before the relationship fell apart. Riley does not resent her at all, and still cares for her deeply. Despite this, they still feel a little hurt in their heart over the situation. Something that can be seen in their photography.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
As if growing up a short distance away from Salem, MA wasnโt weird enough for Gavin, his parents owned their own funeral service. While his mother was the mortician, his father was the funeral director. To make matters worse, they made their home in the upstairs of the same building they ran the funeral home out of.
With all of that given, Gavin didnโt exactly have the easiest time growing up. He was bullied a lot for being the โweirdโ kid constantly surrounded by death. His interests didnโt make it any better. He poured himself into the works of Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, R.L. Stine, and Christopher Pike. He believed in all the spooky things - the ghosts, the vampires, the werewolves. It was all real in his mind.
He didnโt exactly have many friends growing up, so he poured all of his free time into caring for animals. In between spending time with his childhood best friend (a black cat named Shadow), and volunteering at the local shelter, it was clear what Gavin was going to do with his life.ย
The moment he graduated from high school, he enrolled in college and set forward on making his dreams of being a vet tech a reality. He performed extremely well in his studies and graduated on time.
