Agatized marine mammal bone
Yesterday was one of the best fossil whale bone days I’ve had, as berm accretion occurred. Strong waves pulling the heavy silicate material from the bottom of the berm and tossing them to the top. Many subsequent posts from that day to come.

Some small fossil whale bone fragments are among my favorites. The way they weather is so unique to each piece.
One of my favorite silicified whale bones I have ever found. Last winter, towards the end of the day when the light was dim I saw from a distance what looked like a bright white quartz standing out from the dark shales surrounding it and as I got closer the surface textures immediately made me realize it was fossil bone. I’ve never seen another piece like it. I jumped for joy.
