If this picture looks like a bunch of brown twigs to you, that's because that's what it is. This is a Japanese roasted twig tea, both kukicha (twig tea) and hojicha (roasted green tea). It was sold as "kukicha", but in general typical kukicha is not roasted. The flavor and overall character of this tea is dominated by the roast, so it tastes more like other hojicha (roasted teas) and not as much like green kukicha (twig teas).
