I absolutely love Hunt and Bryce but I’m nearly half way through House of Sky and Breath and am losing interest in Quinlar fast. I feel like the transition from “will they, won’t they” to “we’re mates now” was too fast and anticlimactic. Especially when mates are basically husband/wife to their species, they went from “Are we even dating?” to “We’re married now” in one afternoon.
Also Hunt going down on Bryce was theoretically hot but SJM ruined it by having them be sweaty and stinky from working out. 🤢 Why does she always do that? I feel like a lot of SJM smut could have been fine if it wasn’t for the context. It’s like how Feyre just HAD to remind us that she could hear the screams and cries of the dying and injured while doing down on Rhysand. It kills the romance for me.
But yeah, I have nothing against Hunt and Bryce as friends and I think they’re both interesting characters, but I’m not excited for them as a couple. I’m more excited to see what Tharion is doing and find the River Queen really interesting. I love every scene with Ithan and the Frat Pack. I’m so in love with Cormac! I’m super curious about Baxian and want more Isaiah and Naomi.
My one gripe with Bryce is her obsession with Danika. I swear, she feels more in love with Danika than Hunt! And I feel like Danika having even more secrets to the point that Bryce questions if she ever even knew Danika ruins Danika’s character who I absolutely adore.
I also hate that Ithan is in love with Bryce. So unnecessary! Not only am I a huge reverse harem fan, I adore the friends to lovers trope but honestly, I as much as I love Bryce, I don’t see a reason all her guy friends are in love with her other than her walking around like a pin-up girl whose somehow never flawed in appearance ever.
She only wears thongs ever? Really SJM? Even to bed? What’s next? She wakes up with a full face of make up? Her sweat smells like rose water?
I just think it would have been cuter if Ithan had a puppy crush on her cause she was like an older sister and with his brother dead, he felt the need to step into his brother’s role and look after her just like how he quit Sunball to join the Aux like his brother. Not both brothers thought she was their mate. 😒 I HATE HATE HATE that Ithan is suddenly throwing Connor under the bus when it comes to Bryce saying bullshit like “He would have chosen sunball over Bryce”. Bull-fucking-shit! Connor, the man who spent 5 years planning how to treat her right, would NOT! This out of nowhere jealousy and hatred towards his brother is stupid! Ithan loved Connor more than anyone.
If I didn’t know how things were going to end with Hypaxia and Ruhn, I’d honestly be shipping. He clearly has a little crush even if she’s not interest in marrying him either. He still feels guilty and respects her deeply.
Oh, and something I think we all can agree on. POLLUX. MUST. DIE.
Also. This fandom needs more love for the Frat Pack. Specifically Tristan Flynn AND Declan Emmet. I never see fics for Dec. I don’t get it cause he’s adorable!
Also if I hear about how huge Hunt’s dick is one more time, I’m gonna puke… 🤮 The ridiculously giant dick trope grosses me out.
