He battled motor neurone disease to become one of the most respected and best-known scientists of his age. E' stato un cosmologo, fisico, matematico fra i più autorevoli fisici teorici al mondo, ma soprattutto è stato un sognatore e un combattente. Nonostante una grave malattia neurodegenerativa ha contribuito all'elaborazione di numerose teorie fisiche e astronomiche ed è divenuto una delle icone popolari della scienza moderna. Vorrei ricordarlo così: in un fermo immagine di una delle puntante di Star Trek per sempre sospeso tra la scienza e la fantascienza. ... « Ricordatevi di guardare le stelle e non i vostri piedi...
