After years of weaving art pieces, class samples, and even assignments, I'm finally weaving fabric for a garment for me. Just because! I did initially weave a huck lace sample for a rigid heddle class I was teaching. The washed sample is in the center of the second photo. I just loved how this yarn turned out. It's an eggshell cotton plied with a fine rayon art yarn. It has the finest little slubs and spots of tan💞 . After seeing the washed sample I thought it would make the perfect fabric for a Baja hoodie! This is the one my husband got when we were in Mexico a million years ago for our honeymoon. I've always loved it. . Then, since mine is not the serape style and rather monochromatic, I thought about another sample I was doing for my students (#4) and decided that I will use my backstrap loom to weave an inkle band for accents. . I'm so excited about this project! I have finally finished setting up for a lesson tomorrow. This warp had to be rethreaded but is working fine now. More wool leftovers from a little while back. Looking forward to painting and drawing again.
Creating diversity with the pickup stick. The black, cream and pale blue yarn is cotton and the mauve is the net from a punnet of fruit ie recycled.
